Visitors Camp Outside Disneyland Gates To Prepare For 24-Hour Summer Party

Thousands of people lined up outside Disneyland's gates to await the 24 hour all-nighter party on May 24. The event coincided with Memorial Day weekend, and served to kick off the summer at the park.

The event, dubbed "Monstrous Summer All-Nighter," will keep Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure Park open from 6 a.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.

In Florida, Disney World's Magic Kingdom Park will also stay open.  It is the first time all three parks have coordinated a 24-hour all-nighter, according to The Inquisitr.

The Disney Parks website says visitors to the party will enjoy live music, watch the Pixar Play Parade, and dance and party "alongside some of your favorite Disney Characters," CBS reports.

The last 24-hour event at Disneyland was on Leap Day 2012, and caused huge headaches to officials, LA Times reports. The crowds overwhelmed the park and officials had to close the gates for several hours. Traffic was backed up for miles and parking became very limited. Visitors took to social media to express their frustration with the organization of the event.

This year would be different, Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown told KTLA. Extra police officers were on location and staff was asked to park off-site. Additionally, annual pass holders were asked to carpool, Brown said.

"We worked really well with the city of Anaheim this year and traffic control to help mitigate all those problems,"  Brown told the television station, LA Times reports. "We're fully staffed in our parking lots just to ensure that guests get in and to the park as quickly as possible."
