Notre Dame Quarterback Out: Everett Golson No Longer Enrolled And Who Will Be His Replacement?

Notre Dame quarterback out after the team reached the BCS championship game for the first time in decades.

Everett Golson is the Notre Dame quarterback out, according to ESPN, who said the college e-mailed them to confirm that the Notre Dame quarterback out is Golson because he is no longer enrolled there.

In an offense that struggled, the team's defense helped lead the way for the Fighting Irish to reach the championship game that they eventually lost against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Now that the Notre Dame quarterback out from the school, it leaves a big question mark as the team moves forward.

"Everett is not enrolled at the university. Federal law and our own polices preclude us from discussing specifics," spokesman Dennis Brown said in an e-mail.

Golson completed 187-of-318 passes for 2,405 yards and 12 touchdowns with six interceptions. He also rushed for 298 yards and six rushing touchdowns.

Former Oklahoma State quarterback Wes Lunt has drawn interest from Notre Dame within the past month and now may again be an option, a source told Schad. Lunt will visit Louisville on Tuesday, a source told ESPN. He would not be the short-term answer because he would be eligible to play next season.

Malik Zaire was the sixth-ranked QB prospect in the Class of 2013, according to the ESPN 300. He enrolled at the school in the spring.

Notre Dame does have a senior with some game-time experience. He has 18 career starts.

There is no information on where Golson is going next, if anywhere.
