(G)I-DLE Shares Thoughts about "Queendom" Contest

(G)I-DLE a girl group from Cube Entertainment talked about their feelings and goals for Mnet's "Queendom" competition.

The artists were asked about their resolution with regard to their appearance on the show, (G)I-DLE answered, "It is an honor for us to be able to perform on the same stage as these senior idols through 'Queendom.' As the youngest artists, we are striving to improve and show how we are working hard."

As mentioned, (G)I-DLE is the youngest among the six competing groups as they have just made their debut last May 2, 2018; thus (G)I-DLE is a one-year-old group. Though still rookies, (G)I-DLE has won the hearts of the public since their debut, having several achievements already.

On May 2, the girls released their debut extended play (EP) titled "I Am" with the title track "Latata." The music video for the lead single has surpassed 5.9 million views within the first week. And on February 26, 2019, the MV has already reached 100 million views on YouTube, making it the group's first MV to do so. Hence, (G)I-DLE is now one of those K-Pop groups with a 100-million-view MV.

The girls' debut EP has been on several charts like the Billboard's World Albums Chart, Gaon Album Chart, and Gaon Digital Chart, securing spots at the top. Also, (G)I-DLE has received their very first music show win on SBS MTV's "The Show" with "Latata." Moreover, the group's first digital single "Hann (Alone)," which was launched on August 14, also topped several major charts like Bugs, Genie, and Olleh Music. The girls then earned another music show win on "Show Champion" with "Hann."

Throughout the rest of 2018, (G)I-DLE attained several rookie awards at Asia Artist Awards, Genie Music Awards, Gaon Chart Music Awards, and many more. Billboard even ranked them on the top as amongst the best new K-Pop groups of 2018.

Even though the youngest to participate in "Queendom" (G)I-DLE is sure to have what it takes to create amazing performances, alongside the other artists. The said show is a "comeback battle" that features six female idols who will release singles on the same day and compete to see who would dominate the music charts.

"Queendom" is set to air on August 29 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
