Way and Choa to Return as Crayon Pop Unit after 2 Years

Way and ChoA are gearing up for a comeback in September.

A source told the media outlets that Way and Choa are gearing up for a comeback and will release a new single by the end of September.

In response to the reports, High Fly Music made a confirmation on August 29, saying that Way and Choa would be coming back on September 5 with a new single entitled "My Universe."

The artists even shared their thoughts about their return, with Choa saying, "It has been a long time since we promoted as Crayon Pop. I'm thrilled to be able to greet everybody with new music once more. I want to show that I have developed in that period through my music."

Way stated, "I am thankful and glad to be able to release a song for the first time after such a long time. And I absolutely liked 'My Universe' right after I heard it for the first time."

This comeback will mark as the duo's first since 2017 when they launched the Christmas song titled "Christmas For You." Also, it will be the first release from Crayon Pop after three years, since their first Korean studio album called "Evolution Pop Vol. 1" in September 2016.

Way and ChoA are the twin members of Crayon Pop that debuted in July 2012 with the single "Saturday Night." Way almost did not become a member of Crayon Pop as she was still a member of an indie band named "N.Dolphin." However, member Serang left the group before debut to pursue her acting career, and so Way was given another chance to be part of the girl group.

The girl group rose to fame on June 8, 2013, with the song "Bar Bar Bar." It topped the Billboard's Korea K-Pop Hot 100 chart for over a month. The girls even won their first-ever music show trophy with this track.

In 2014, Crayon Pop's first subunit Strawberry Milk - made up of Choa and Way - debuted with the album "The 1st Mini Album," consisting of eight songs including the title track "OK." In 2016, member Soyul left the group as she was engaged to ex-idol Moon Hee Jun.

In 2017, the girls had parted ways and yet Crayon Pop had not disbanded. Chrome Entertainment stated that they would still manage the group activities while solo activities of the members would be handled by the girls' current companies.

Currently, Choa is working as an actress, while Way enjoys her time as a YouTube vlogger and creator. Meanwhile, on September 2, the duo will appear on the SBS FM radio show "Choi Hwa Jung's Power Time."
