MTV ‘Jersey Shore’ star Snookie squares off with New Jersey Governor Christie on Boardwalk [PHOTO] [VIDEO]

The beef between the Governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie and "Jersey Shore" cast mates reached a new height on the Jersey boardwalk during filming for separate segments on NBC's Today show.

Governor Christie has gone on record multiple times saying that he thinks the MTV show is detrimental to the New Jersey media image.

In 2010 the Governor called the MTV show "unrealistic" and "negative for New Jersey."

In 2011 he denied producers of the hit reality show a tax credit for programs produced in the state, explaining that he didn't approve of "a project which does nothing more than perpetuate misconceptions about the state and its citizens."

During filming of the Today show segments, Snooki reportedly attempted to extend an olive branch to the governor saying: "I just wanted to meet you and just hope you start to like us."

The governor was less than enthused, brushing the pint sized starlet off with a simple "We'll do our best."

The Governor's dry response seemed to be more than Snooki could take giving Christie a bit of sass, asking "Why are you standing so close to me?"

After the altercation the reality starlet posted a picture via the social media network Twitter of her and Christie with the caption, "Getting told why we are bad for Jersey. Amazing."
