Cruise Ship Fire: Relaxing Trip to the Bahamas Turned Miserable; Passengers Evacuated In Life Jackets [VIDEO]

A cruise ship fire broke out on Monday as the passengers of the cruise ship were headed towards CocoCay, Bahamas. The cruise ship fire caused all passengers to be evacuated while wearing life jackets.

The Royal Caribbean cruise ship that was carrying passengers to a vacation in the Bahamas experienced a fire which started on the rear mooring deck. The fire then spread towards the fourth deck at the crew lounge area.

Fortunately, the fire was extinguished quickly, and neither deaths nor serious injuries on the cruise ship have been reported.

The fire broke out in the early morning hours on Monday at 2:50 a.m., and the crew was able to extinguish the fire within 2 hours, at around 5 a.m.

Escorted by the U.S. Coast Guard, the cruise ship was then redirected to Freeport instead.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, according to Marilyn Fajardo, spokeswoman of the Coast Guard.

The cruise ship carried 2,224 guests and 796 crew members. Two of the guests fainted in response to the fire and received medical treatment by staff on the cruise ship.

Several passengers also experienced high blood pressure, and one guest had a sprained ankle while the fire incident occurred.

According to Cynthia Martinez, spokesperson of Royal Caribbean, there were no medical emergencies on the cruise ship.

Two passengers of the cruise ship, Katie Coleman and Danielle Miller recounted their cruise ship fire experience on video. In the video, passengers wore orange life jackets while being evacuated to the deck.

The narrator of the video said, "We're on deck right now, 3 a.m., in our life jackets. Not a drill, not a joke."

The cruise ship safely arrived at Freeport by 10:15 a.m., and the cruise ship reported no interruptions with the ship's power, propulsion, or communications systems.
