California Man Shoots Daughters, Killing One, While 3 Grandchildren At Home, Commits Suicide After Shooting [BREAKING]

A California man shot his two adult daughters on Monday, Memorial Day, killing one and critically injuring the other before taking his own life.

He committed the crime while his three young grandchildren were at home, authorities said according to the Associated Press.

An 8-year-old girl called to report gunfire before dawn, and deputies arrived to find 63-year-old Anthony Alvarez dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot, according to a statement released by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.

One of Alvarez’s daughters, Jennifer Kimble, 37, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds. She is also a mother to three children in the home where the shooting happened – two boys ages 13 and 11, and the 8-year-old girl.

Kimble’s sister Valerie Alvarez, 33, sustained at least one gunshot wound. She was flown to Fresno hospital for treatment and is in critical condition.

According to Sgt. Chris Douglass, investigators do not doubt that Alvarez shot his two daughters then turned the gun on himself. “It’s a very cut-and-dried case,” said Douglass.

No information was released on the motive for the shootings.

The children were unharmed and reunited with their father, who was at work when the shootings occurred.

The shootings happened on a residential street of small stucco homes in Orosi, a town of about 9,000 in California’s Central Valley, 20 miles southeast of Fresno.

The dead victim worked in the cafeteria of an elementary school one street over from the house where she was killed.

According to her supervisor, Kimble was a dedicated, caring employee.

"I'm just as surprised as anyone else right now," Brenda Lightfoot-Handy, director of food services at Palm Elementary said, speaking to the Fresno Bee. "I'm just trying to process this.
