Jo Kwon's management, Cube Entertainment, officially announced that 2AM's Jo Kwon will soon be discharged from the military following its COVID-19 Protocol.
On March 19, the agency released their official announcement through 2AM's official fan cafe. The full message reads:
"Hello, this is Cube Entertainment.
We would like to inform everyone that Jo Kwon will be discharged on March 24.
Because of the rapid spreading of the Coronavirus Infection, he will be discharged without returning to his base, as per the National Ministry of Defense's protocol.
We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has been waiting for him for a long time.
We ask everyone's love and support in his upcoming activities after his discharge from the military.
Thank you."
It was in mid-February when the Ministry of National Defense regulated and restricted the number of people leaving and visiting the military personnel as part of their plan to combat COVID-10. Vacation dates have been settled so that those who are on their final vacation will be discharged from their military services without returning to their bases.
Jo Kwon enlisted on August 6, 2018. He actively participated in army musicals and song activities.
He was escorted by his friends as he enlisted in the military without the presence of the media. Days before seeing him off, Jo Kwon uploaded a video of himself on his Instagram account showing his military haircut along with the photos of him and his friends with Jeung Jonwoon.
He also uploaded a handwritten letter he read to the fans during a fan meeting.
"It is official, Chapter three of my life begins now. My life as a teen, to my 20's, and now my 30's, I must admit it's extremely overwhelming and more exciting than ever. I have big plans to do in my 30's! But of course not too big. I think the time has come to finally show everyone who Jo Kwon is," he wrote.
The idol also addressed his fans who will miss him and told them to wait for him. He also joked that he will "meet all of you until you all get sick of me."
"I am me today because of my group 2AM, and to all of our fans who showed their undying support just to keep our group 2AM alive, I sincerely send my gratitude and love to all of you. I have all of you who are like a calm ocean for me that is not too big or not too small and is not too strong or weak. I am here and I will not retire haha! Let us show the world the greatness of the calm ocean!" Jo Kwon added, before expressing his love for his family and friends.
2AM's Changmin also expressed his care for Jo Kwon by wishing him well and uploaded a photo of him saying, "Come back safely!"
