MONSTA X's Hyungwon apologized to fans on the group's official fan cafe on Sunday, March 22. This was after OT6 MONBEBEs criticized him and his members for recently meeting with Wonho, former member of the group, for a meal.
"First of all, I want to say that I am sorry to Monbebe. I think the reason is because we are lacking. And recently, the situation is not good in many ways these days, even though we always show our best side, we who are not good enough, would feel sorry and I want to apologize for the things we didn't do," Hyungwon wrote.
"We will work a lot harder for you to pay more attention to us. And our Monbebe won't have a hard time for us, too. We'll try to reflect on the wrong things, so please keep an eye on us," he added.
"Even though I was worried that this might turn to be another misunderstanding for us, I couldn't just pass by and look over all your posts [without writing anything back to you]. This space is for Monbebe and Monsta X, but since I see that many people are having a hard time because of us, my heart hurts," the MONSTA X member went on.
Recently, online communities posted stolen photos showing the meeting between members of MONSTA X with their former member Wonho, who withdrew from the team last year amid the allegations of smoking cannabis. The former idol has been cleared of accusations, but fans have taken issue with the members' meeting, and it appears that they wrote on behalf of the members.
According to Starship Entertainment on March 20, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's drug investigation team ended its investigation into the drug charges, including smoking marijuana. It cleared Wonho of all charges as the police started investigating Wonho raised in late October last year.
During the process, Wonho has actively cooperated with all investigation procedures, including the investigative agency's scientific inspection, Starship said, adding that police have conducted extensive investigations over the past five months but have not been able to find any charges.
Starship Entertainment said, "Firstly, no matter what the facts are, We would like to apologize once again for the fact that Wonho and the company have been very worried about our fans. We also thank our national and foreign fans for their unwavering support while waiting for the results."
Wonho debuted with Monsta X in 2015. When allegations of him smoking cannabis were raised, Wonho decided to drop out of the team, saying, "I don't want to bother the team apart from the charges."
As a result, MONSTA X further continued as a six-member group. The team has recently gained global attention, ranking fifth on Billboard's main album chart "Billboard 200" with its first English album.
With this in mind, hopefully, the fans of Monsta X will continue to support the group as a whole throughout their career.
