2,200 Passengers End Cruise Fire Nightmare In Baltimore, Company Attempts To Salvage Business With Certificate For Future Cruise

After Monday's terrifying fire incident aboard Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas subsided, the cruise's 2,224 passengers are headed for Baltimore on 11 chartered flights from the Bahamas.

According to ABC News, the fire was discovered at 2:50 AM yesterday along with reports of several big explosions.

"I heard these big explosions and saw the fire jump out of the ship," said passenger Dan McTigue.

"We couldn't get to the muster station because it was on fire."

"I started crying," said McTigue's granddaughter, Sophia.

"I thought we were going to die."

When asked about the explosions, Royal Caribbean International (RCI) responded, "The cause of the fire is still under investigation."

"We are working closely with the various agencies that are looking into it."

In addition to arranging flights home to Baltimore from Frdeeport dock in the Bahamas, RCI also volunteered a full refund for the planned 7-day cruise and a certificate for a future cruise.

According to the Royal Caribbean official website, certificates must be redeemed at least ten business days prior to a sail date.

Perhaps as a relief to passengers considering a do-over of the vacation experience, a cruise set aboard the Grandeur of the Seas for May 31 has been canceled so the ship can be repaired, reported FOX News.

The company released a statement earlier saying it was "deeply sorry for this unexpected development in our guests' vacation."

"We understand that this may have been a very stressful time for them. We appreciate their patience and cooperation in dealing with this unfortunate situation."

Evidently, "cooperation" includes staying with the company through another cruise.

But how many will take the bait after this experience?
