Kelly Rowland Breaks Down During "Dirty Laundry" Performance But Calls It "Therapeutic"

Kelly Rowland broke down while singing the climax of "Dirty Laundry," an R&B song that describes Rowland's jealous of Beyonce's success, her competitiveness, and resulting abusive relationship. Fans cheered Rowland on to the end of the song.

"Doing this song for me was so therapeutic," Rowland said during her show at the Fillmore Silver Spring on Sunday night, The Washington Post reports. "Honesty, like my mama always says, is always the best policy."

During the song, Rowland fought her emotions, sometimes leaving the audience to take over and continue singing the "Dirty Laundry" song. At one point, Kelly choked up and put her head in her heads. The audience cheered her name until she was able to collect herself and regain her voice.

The song portrays Rowland's struggle with living in Beyonce's shadow. It also is a window into the abusive relationship Rowland endured, and how it almost destroyed her relationship with her family and friends, The Washington Post reports.

Kelly Rowland also recently premiered another new song, "You've Changed." She made it clear that the song, though reuniting the singers of Destiny's Child, is not a Destiny's Child song.

"It's not a Destiny's Child track. It's me featuring Beyoncé and Michelle," Rowland told Billboard in April, according to MTV.

"You've Changed" will be released officially June 4. The album, Talk a Good Game, with songs featuring Pharrell and Wiz Khalifa, will drop June 18, MTV reports.
