TV personality and broadcaster Hong Seok Cheon revealed his meeting with the mother of the late singer and actress Goo Hara, who passed away in November last year.
On the Channel A's "Rumor Has It," which aired on April 13, Hong Seok Cheon recalled the time when he met Goo Hara's biological mother at the funeral. Hong Seok Cheon mentioned, "I went on the first day, and someone welcomed me as I was there."
He went on, "She touched my hand and asked for a handshake. 'You are someone I saw on TV, can I take a picture with you?'" He added that he politely turned her down.
"I'm sorry because we are in a house of mourning," Hong Seok Cheon said.
"I've been at the venue for a long time, and she kept going back and forth, so I asked other people, 'Who is she?' And I found out for the first time it was Hara's mother," he narrated.
Apart from this, he recalled that the atmosphere was unusual at the time of the funeral.
Hong Seok Cheon said, "I've already heard stories about how 'the atmosphere is so bad' and 'concerning' from the first day because the mother of the late Goo Hara talked about property and wealth issues where everyone can hear her."
The celebrity host went on, "The relatives and close friends around her probably have listened to this story, but everyone else had those worrying stories outside."
Moreover, there have been quite an amount of times their family raised issues. Goo Hara's brother, Goo Ho In, disclosed his mother's unusual behavior at his sister's funeral. He said, "When families gather and identify themselves, the hospital's medical staff told us we should never touch the body. But my biological mother came and became the first to run on the body and touched her face, so I was so angry that I took her away from my sister."
The late singer's brother continued, "At the funeral, I didn't allow her to act as the head mourner. My father opposed it as well, but I suddenly saw her wear mourning clothes."
Ho In also confessed that he couldn't understand the secret recording of his conversation with him on his mobile phone.
The controversy erupted earlier over the fact that Goo Hara's biological mother abandoned them when they were young, and now she's back and demanding half of Hara's property. Following this, Ho In filed a lawsuit against his absent mother.
Meanwhile, Goo Hara's brother recently filed a petition to legislate the "Goo Hara Act," which aims to prevent parents from inheriting their children's heritage if they abandon their child's duty to raise their children.
It was referred to the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee 16 days after the National Assembly's petition was released on the 3rd, which meets for at least 100,000 petitioners. The appeal in question is expected to be officially reviewed after being referred to the National Assembly's Strategy and Finance Committee, a standing committee under its jurisdiction, with more than 100,000 petitioners.
