Netflix has unveiled a new summer teaser for the highly anticipated second act of its original series, When Life Gives You Tangerines, starring IU and Park Bo Gum.
The teaser, released Monday, showed a glimpse of the main characters, Ae-sun (IU) and Gwan-sik (Park Bo Gum), as they navigate the challenges of marriage, parenthood, and adulthood. The teaser comes days before the series is set to return for its second installment on March 14.
The teaser focuses on the couple's journey as young parents and touches on their struggles with financial hardships and their daughter Geum Myeong's transition into adulthood. It also features new stills from the series, including scenes of Ae-sun competing for the position of village chief and Gwan-sik working at the docks. Throughout the challenges, the second act of "When Life Gives You Tangerines" will continue to explore their love and resilience.
In the second act, IU will play both Ae-sun and her character's daughter, Geum Myeong. However, the second act will only consist of four episodes. An additional four episodes will be released on March 21, and the last four installments will be released on March 28.
"When Life Gives You Tangerines" marks IU and Park's first official collaboration. Prior to the project, IU starred in hit series such as "Hotel Del Luna" and "My Mister." On the other hand, Park is acclaimed for his performances in "Reply 1888" and "Love in the Moonlight."
Despite only having worked together on this project, IU and Park have long since shared mutual respect and admiration. They have also mutually expressed their desire to work together, with IU citing Park's professionalism and the depth he brings to the character. At the same time, Bo Gum noted the singer's dedication to her craft and emotional range.
