On April 20, EXO-Ls celebrated on social media the success of the very first fan-organized online concert to express their love and support to none other than EXO's Chen!
Last night was a real blast, and it was indeed a memorable night for EXO-Ls and Soondingies after more than 100,000 people gathered at Mixlr, a popular streaming site, to stream the fan-made solo concert of EXO's main vocalist.
"It was emotional and remarkable, a night that will always remain for every EXO-Ls," a fan commented.
On January 13, Chen announced his marriage through a handwritten letter and also hinted that he and his girlfriend, who he said he wants to spend the rest of his life with, are expecting. While some expressed their dismay and demanded him to withdraw, tons of EXO-Ls were joyful and congratulated the K-pop star.
"Fan's love is greater than anything," a fan said.
"True fan will support their idol no matter what path they will take," another one wrote.
As of writing, there haven't been new updates about the idol apart from his co-members Suho and Baekhyun mentioning him in their respective recent interviews. This was what led Soondingies, an endearment given personally by Chen to his fans, to have an online concert dedicated to the idol for the reason that they are missing him so much.
What could be the purest reason and intention of doing an online concert? EXO-Ls proving how much they love the EXO members dearly. The fandom's collective feeling of missing their favorite balladeer became a full-blown force to trend #DAECON, an amalgamation of Jongdae (Chen's real name) and "concert," No. 1 worldwide, making it a successful event even without the man of the hour himself.
Special guests were also present, such as fellow SM artists Krystal Jung and Red Velvet. Dynamic Duo had their special performance with the idol as well, singing their collaboration songs "You" and "Nosedive."
What's more? EXO-Ls got an OT9 content as other EXO members were present to support Chen's solo concert!
The night was filled with laughter, tears, and love, with fans holding their Aeribong (EXO's lightstick) while streaming at the comfort of their homes, blessing their ears with Chen's stunning vocals.
Despite being fan-made, fans' hearts are somehow at ease as they got to express their affection for the singer. They are also hoping that this will reach Chen to remind him that there's an innumerable amount of EXO-Ls who support him and will continue to do so for a long, long time.
Meanwhile, as #DAECON successfully capped off, other fans are planning to conduct more EXO online concerts. As a matter of fact, KyoongCon, DYOCON, and LoeyCon (Baekhyun, D.O., and Chanyeol, respectively) are confirmed to be happening on the following dates.
Some fans are also hoping that XingCon (Lay), CottonCon (Suho), and other members' solo and unit online concerts will also materialize in the future.
EXO-Ls be really out there setting another K-pop fan culture for other fandoms to follow.
