On May 1, Super Junior's leader Leeteuk was welcomed by an unpleasant incident due to his continuous experience of personal information hacking. The idol, who has been facing this issue because of sasaengs and obsessed fans, once again appealed on social media to stop invading his private space.
On April 30, fans expressed their concerns towards the "Hallyu Kings" member after Leeteuk wrote a message on his Instagram, saying, "Really, please stop Hacking," informing his followers about the recurring attempts to hack his social media site.
Due to this, the idol couldn't help but call out the individuals who were trying to steal his information by infiltrating his personal SNS. Leeteuk also experienced this on April 22, which was only a week ago. On the same day, he expressed his disappointment and disbelief through his personal social media account, saying, "I think you're me hacking every day, so stop it. I'm getting a lot of text messages. #Stop it," along with this is a screen-capped conversation he had with the hacker on Instagram, telling him to change his password.
These are not only the incidents that his safety and security were put to risk due to the hackers and sasaeng invading his privacy.
In January, Leeteuk, who was in Japan for Super Junior's scheduled tour, appeared on a live broadcast to communicate with his fans. However, in the middle of the broadcast, he abruptly ended the live stream. Following this, he held a live broadcast to explain what exactly went down. Leeteuk revealed that several unknown numbers were calling him. He also asked the callers, who could be watching the live stream, to stop harassing him.
Furthermore, he opened up the topic about the leakage of his private phone number, and sternly said, "It is fun to know my number without my consent?" The idol added that his contact information was being spread in exchange for money.
ELFs, Super Junior's fandom name, are expressing their full support to the K-pop star's appeal.
As early as 2012, Leeteuk has been experiencing leakage of his private information. In 2017, he pleaded to sasaengs to stop calling him at midnight. Back then, the K-pop icon said he was too tired to entertain such calls as on the following day, and that he had to wake up early to get ready for his schedules.
Instead of demanding the callers to stop, he simply said, "I am okay with everything [...] do it in the afternoon, please."
Due to the incident, Leeteuk tried reporting the hacking to the police. However, as soon as he changed his phone number, he eventually received new calls from his stalkers again.
Not only his phone number was leaked, but his private conversation with individuals as well. Recently, a user posted screen captures of Leeteuk's messages allegedly hitting on her friend just because the idol showed interest in cars and asked her friend to meet him up soon.
