The "Big 5" Entertainment Agencies are set to dominate the industry with a new generation of K-pop idols again!
A chart has been revealed, summarizing the K-pop groups under SM, YG, JYP, Big Hit, and CJ ENM that are set to debut this 2020 to 2021, and making K-pop fans and netizens anticipate the groups that will build and mold the new batch of Hallyu stars in this modern K-pop era.
Starting from SM Entertainment, the no. 1 agency is set to debut a new girl group this 2020. According to the rumors, SM's first girl group since Red Velvet in 2014 will be revealed this summer. Though there is no specific time and confirmation from SM, fans have been curious about what they'd be like and what they can offer, especially that the alleged members are being leaked through social media.
Also, a new boy group will be wrecking the SM stans' bias list as well, as it's written on the chart that they are scheduled to debut in 2021. It's not yet clarified, though, if it's a new boy group or another team from NCT.
Meanwhile, YG's new boy group for 2020, TREASURE, is slated to finally debut this July! TREASURE will be debuting as the first boy group of YG since iKON in 2015, comprising 12 members. According to reports, their concept will be different from the usual YG group, which focuses on rap and swag. YG and K-pop fans have been anticipating two months from now.
In addition to this, YG will be forming a new girl group as well, five years after BLACKPINK's debut in 2016. However, the concept is far from the famous female group, as they will go for a concept like TWICE and IZ*ONE, and for that reason, it is expected that the group will be composed of more than four members like 2NE1 and BLACKPINK, and will be having members from various nationalities.
Speaking of JYP, which is the home of TWICE, GOT7, ITZY, DAY6, Stray Kids, and many more, the entertainment will kick off with a new girl group and boy group this 2020 and 2021! This time, JYPE sets its focus on creating a male group with Chinese members, and at the same time, JYP is set to debut a girl group that is Japan-based, which is initially introduced through "NIZI PROJECT," a survival show in search for new female idols that will be promoting globally.
As for Big Hit Entertainment, the agency of BTS and TXT, they are planning to collaborate with Source Music, entertainment of GFriend, to produce a new girl group in 2021.
For CJ ENM's plans, it's claimed that they will be introducing a new boy group this 2020 under a subsidiary called Belift, a project with Big Hit Entertainment.
It's also rumored that the agency is planning to set a Korean debut for JO1, a successful Japanese group debuting through "Produce 101 Japan," which is a counterpart of South Korea's "Produce 101" broadcasted in MNET.
The news is drawing lots of attention from K-pop fans, and if the chart is true, then the future of K-pop is bright.
