On May 21, fans and netizens could't help but feel emotional as IU and Lee Joon Gi just had an interaction again, reliving their characters as Hae Soo and Wang So from their hit Korean drama, "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo."
This was after the Korean actor posted a video on his official Instagram account, which is a teaser for his upcoming drama project. Eventually, fans of the actor who still can't move on from the 2016 drama, along with his then-co-star singer-actress IU, think that the photo resembles the painful ending of "Scarlet Heart Ryeo."

Thus, when IU commented on Lee Joon Gi's post, in character as Hae Soo, fans lost it and undoubtedly couldn't hide their happiness!
IU commented, "You are finally here," with an emoji of an old woman, pertaining to her character who waited for so long to meet the King. However, until the tragic ending of the drama, she didn't see the love of her life for the last time.
Lee Joon Gi then replied, "It took a long time," sending an emoji of an old man as well, playing his role as Wang So, who is the fourth son of the Royal family and eventually took over the crown as the King after some turmoil of events.
Reliving her character as Hae Soo, IU played the role of a woman who traveled from the present to the past after experiencing several misfortunes and became entangled with the Royal family's sons. At the same time, she met the fourth son named Wang So, who has a scarred face and has emotional wounds due to his traumatic past as a child.
Fate brought them together, though their supposed happy ending didn't go as expected, leaving fans and netizens heartbroken (even to this day!).
Though the Korean drama wrapped up in 2016, the K-pop singer and the actor continue to support each other as close friends despite their individual activities.
In particular, Lee Joon Gi was often seen supporting his friend in her concerts, where they also shared a photo together while holding the female idol's official lightstick and banner.
Moreover, the two artists always root for each other, wherein in 2018, they guested together in the Korean variety show, "Ask Us Anything," to promote IU's comeback track, "BBIBBI." In the show, IU revealed that she personally asked Joon Gi to come along with her as she was afraid she'd make the episode boring.
Also, in 2019, during the comeback drama of the female singer, "Hotel Del Luna," Lee Joon Gi and IU reunited again after asking the actor to make a special appearance.
With these events, fans and shippers of the two have the ignited desire to call on for the second season of "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" to give their roles, Hae Soo and Wang So, a proper, blissful ending that they deserve. But despite fans' demand, there's no confirmation whether it's possible or not.
On the other hand, as the K-pop singer recently celebrated her birthday, and fans were thrilled at Lee Joon Gi's comment on IU's birthday post, greeting her a happy birthday.
Currently, Lee Joon Gi is preparing for his upcoming drama. And previously, IU dropped a collaboration song with BTS Suga, drawing K-pop enthusiasts' interests due to their bittersweet track, "Eight."
