Roy Kim will release new music ahead of his enlistment in the military.
Stone Music Entertainment recently revealed that Roy Kim had already been accepted to the Marine Corps and would be enrolling on June 15.
On May 22, the agency said, "Roy Kim is set to release a new track on May 27. Written with the distinctive emotion of Roy Kim, the song he wrote personally will include his heartfelt sentiments. Roy Kim would then join the Marine Training Crops in Pohang, Province of North Gyeongsang on June 15 to fulfill his military service."
The forthcoming track will be Roy Kim's only new song in one year and eight months after "The Hardest Part" was released in September 2018. The singer launched several successful hits, which include "Love Love Love," "Home," "The Great Dipper," and "Only Then" after premiering with the single "Spring Spring Spring Spring" in 2013.
Roy Kim was prosecuted in 2019 as part of the controversy surrounding community chatrooms, where famous people negotiated and performed criminal acts, on charges of distributing illegally taken pornographic content.
The singer then admitted posting an unlawfully captured image in April 2019 but did not confess to recording pictures or videos. A suspension of prosecution on his case was rendered in February of this year.
In the same month, Roy Kim apologized profusely and narrated his story after being suspended for disseminating sexual material. He wrote an open letter to fans, following the reports that, in his case, he obtained a dismissal of prosecution for the dissemination of pornographic content.

"Hello, this is Roy Kim.
For everyone who has been waiting until the recent announcement has been posted, I'm not certain if it's even okay for me to really communicate to you now.
I am trying to write, though, because I'd like to convey to you how deeply I feel genuinely sorry and thankful.
I have just obtained the investigation report. I felt the need to tell you, everyone, first, and I'm so apologetic this was first reported in the press.
First, in the quarter of 2016, I noticed a blog article via a portal web search that stated how an altered image had been the picture that was the target of rumors. I took screenshots with my mobile and then sent the photo, together with a response that the gossip wasn't real, to a chat group that I had with peers I interacted with.
Through his incident, I realized that it's not right to share such pictures, regardless of the content or the intention, and I am deeply reflecting on that.
I sincerely apologize, because of my reckless and careless behavior, that I have deeply upset people I love. I was concerned about what I was going to say to you and how I was supposed to say it, and I spent very terrible days watching and listening to the chat that continued to grow and grow.
I solemnly reflected on myself throughout that period, and I understood once again how valuable and wonderful all the things that you have provided me and the support that I have earned are, as a person who is constantly lacking.
To all of you who have unchangingly helped and cherished me over this long time. I'm so sorry I can't even describe it in words, and I'm so genuinely thankful."
