Former Wonder Girls member Yubin, presently CEO and musician of her own company RRR Entertainment, spoke in a recent interview with Star Today as to why she decided to leave JYP Entertainment. She also opened up about single "yaya (ME TIME)."
Speaking of having to change from JYP Entertainment to her own company, Yubin shared, "When I acquired the necessary knowledge, I've started to recognize I've been at a very wonderful firm. It was big and had a systemic structure that gave me a lot of assistance. Even though it can be daunting to learn new things one after the other now, it's interesting too, and I've got some of the best tips from certain fantastic people."
The CEO and artist announced she longed for a new experience.
"Of course, I was considering moving to another company, yet JYP was such a wonderful place while other companies would definitely be good too, and I thought it would eventually be closer to functioning as an artist at a company," she said.
Above everything, Yubin tried to avoid feelings of self-indulgence, saying, "The feeling of complacency I got by being in a comfortable position where they do it for you may have been what prompted me to want to start my own agency."
She went on, "Even though it would be challenging, I wanted to push myself, so I just headed for it. Of course, I would always just want to go to a company, be looked for, and be happy, but if not, then, I don't think I could have started my own firm."
Speaking of her song "Yaya (ME TIME)," her first launch since founding her new agency, Yubin shared, "Since it's the first moment I've had a voice in anything from beginning to finish of the whole project, it's interesting, exciting and special. I'm not attempting to put far to much stock into the outcome, but just concentrate on having a good time and also being free. I aim to continue doing this for a long time, and I want people to be happy."
Yubin stated that her latest single is a performance of herself at that point in time, such as her songs "Lady" or "Silent Movie."
"My approach to music has not changed a great deal. I'm trying to incorporate those styles of music or concepts I like at the moment. 'Lady,' 'Silent Movie,' and 'ME TIME' are the tracks that perfectly convey myself in every period of my life," Yubin confessed.
The idol also disclosed that members of Wonder Girls did respond to the music, stating the music is the same as her. When asked about the initial reaction to her solo from J.Y. Park, she said she had not heard anything from him yet.
"I feel sort of like a student who needs her instructor to praise and remember him. I decided to surprise him this time around rather, so I didn't give him the track," Yubin explained.
"I believe I was able to produce my own album, though, over the years, I've had so much constructive criticism from him," she added.
