The former cast member of "Produce 48" Ko Yu Jin has given up her desire to become a singer.
Ko Yu Jin wrote on her Instagram Stories on June 3 regarding her present situation. This seemed to be a way of responding to the remarks she obtained after having made a special appearance on a television telecast on AfreecaTV organized by her friend, a broadcast jockey.
Ko Yu Jin said she had decided to part ways with her company, saying, "I planned to make my premiere, but situations didn't go the way I'd been hoping."
She added, "Luck and timing have a lot to do with that, but there were several bad stuff that happened. It was an enormous psychological drain on me, so I decided to stop it."
She explained that at the moment, she can't speak about these issues in depth but would think about them in the long term.
"I worked extremely hard and prepared for a long period of time. However, once I began thinking about how this whole career was crushing me down, every day had become increasingly more difficult," Ko Yu Jin confessed.
"That's why I completely have given up on the long-standing dream I'd held. I'm so sorry for the people who were anticipating my debut, but I chose to live as a non-celebrity for the rest of my life," she said.
Ko Yu Jin also attempted to explain to just not deceive supporters about her highly anticipated debut. She decided to write that she couldn't talk about her premiere, her company, or her present situation.
She continued, "I established YouTube and Instagram accounts and went on the AfreecaTV telecast to express my heartfelt gratitude to the supporters who have been sending me their support and encouragement so far."
She went on, "I aim to pay back the affection I have obtained by producing better content and displaying what I can do - not as an idol trainee but as a non-celebrity - who can interact with the people who encourage and support her."
In the period of her presence on "Produce 48," Ko Yu Jin was a trainee at Blockberry Creative, and she also spent significant time as a trainee under 8D Creative.
Produce 48 is a competition series for entertainment on Mnet in 2018. It's a large-scale project where the public "produces" a girl band by casting a vote for participants out of a pool of 96 South Korean and Japanese participants, and also some voting for the team's concept, title, and premiere single.
The television series was a collaborative effort among both Produce 101 series Mnet and AKB48 group of J-pop idols. The likely to win 12 candidates would start promoting as a band for two and a half years, without any nationality caps, as voted only with Korean audiences.
The program is indeed mainly in Korean, but on-site translators transcribe staff and trainer guidelines. Mostly during the finals on August 31, 2018, the television series confirmed the 12 participants who made it, as well as the official title of band IZ*ONE.
Generated for Mnet by AKATV (the firm that also developed Produce 101's second season), the TV series started airing on June 15, 2018 and concluded with 12 episodes on August 31, 2018. It was managed by Ahn Joon-young, who also managed Produce 101's first two seasons.
