K-pop agencies can be very sketchy, as many are known for mistreating their artists. Usually, artists don't condemn their managing labels because they're afraid they might get kicked out.
But wait, because there are actually those who went on to diss their firms after they leave.
Below is the list of the K-pop idols who bravely dissed their former companies, and see the reasons why.
FORMER 2PM'S LEADER JAY PARK
Initially, Jay Park had been an idol under JYP Entertainment, where he was the 2PM leader. He was eventually expelled from the group due to his posts on his Myspace, having some negative remarks about South Korea.
Afterward, Jay Park became the founder of his own firm, AOMG. Jay Park also seems to break Park Jin Young, JYPE's founder, in his single, "F*CKBOY," wherein he said, "my past teacher."
The lyrics go:
"My past teacher is jealous because we may be same-same.
I'm far from the world of pop
My current position is:
I get the b**ches and the riches."
There have also been a few more lyrics allegedly alluding to the JYPE founder, saying that he is reaping the benefits of fans and not behaving his age.
"Even if you block me
I keep going straight
You're an entertainer who buys and sells fans
This is my fifth year, enjoying my freedom
Without knowing how I became rich
Old geezer ahjussi still can't act his age
So childish, childish"
f(x)'s AMBER
Amber released her song "Get Over It," and there have been some theories that she is targeting SM Entertainment.
Some of the lyrics suggest how the agency treated her like a kid and wanted her to abide by their rules and regulations, just like a robot.
"No, they talking to me like I'm 16
Saying they get me, I ain't fooled"
Some lyrics suggested that Amber, while at SM Entertainment, struggled with a lot of lies and suffering.
"Walking eggshells
oh my feelings hurt
The cookie-cutter flavored bulls**t
I'm through!"
FORMER B.A.P's YONGGUK
B.A.P and TS Entertainment's bitter relationship is well-known in the industry as the group once filed a lawsuit against the company for poor treatment.
Later on, Yongguk published a diss track that targets the firm. The lyrics tended to focus on how his contributions were not respected by TS Entertainment, and how the firm was concerned only about profit.
"The lyrics I put my heart into isn't worth reading to them
Everyone wants to chase after money and fame
In the end, my lyrics are trash, letters GO AWAY"
Other lyrics have mainly focused on how Yongguk never intends to be as profit-hungry as TS Entertainment and are applauding his fellow members for having to endure the mental anguish of being in the business.
"Respect to my dongsaengs who thought it was happiness and ran
Don't try to defend me until the end
I rather leave than become someone like them"
FORMER EXO's TAO
Tao's song "T.A.O" was reflective of several of his actual thoughts about his tenure at SM Entertainment.
His lyrics talked about how healthy he has become and he intends to move on from the past, which points to the stringent regulations of SM Entertainment about their artists.
"The memories of the past
I don't want to think about it anymore
The time I have lost, the life that can't be bought back"
BLOCK B's ZICO
Zico's song "Battle Royal" wasn't really a direct insult towards one particular company but a disparage about the whole K-pop business sector. He has derided how K-pop companies are pushing their artists beyond walls and treating them somewhat like enslaved people.
"My eyes open before the day breaks
stuff in chicken breakfast, lettuce into my mouth
Dash out to Han river, run a marathon
Anemia value rises, feeling sharp pain"
Zico also dispersed firms for needing their artists to look in a precise direction.
"I tighten my belt, F**k I gained a bit
Mr. Representative wants it a body like a cola bottle
My first priority is appearance
eventually a wholesome face goes under the knife"
