On June 5, a photo in a graphics interchange format (GIF) showing a previous interaction between BLACKPINK Lisa and her former manager circulated online, gathering various reactions from fans and netizens.
In line of the heartbreaking incident that the Thai K-pop idol experienced recently with her former manager that swindled approximately 1 Billion Won from her since debut, fans and K-netizens look back to the previous interactions they had, questioning how Lisa's manager could do that to the idol despite their sibling-like relationship.
In the GIF, Lisa came out from the airport and started looking around to look for someone, and as soon as she saw her manager, Lisa happily and smiling runs toward him. The GIF is indeed a cute and lovely interaction between Lisa and her manager. Still, fans and Knetz can't help but feel heartbroken for Lisa, as it is evident in the photo that she's not only seeing him as a manager but as an older brother that she trust and respect.
In other social media platforms, fans particularly BLINKs, are also looking back to Lisa and her manager's interaction, where they use to respect him so much as well, for taking care of Lisa and playing the role of an older brother who holds dearly of her.
As soon as the GIF trended online as well as their interactions, Knetz and fans shared their reaction in social media, conveying their sentiments about the manager.
"No matter what anyone says, how can you think of stealing that huge amount of money from a young kid who worked so hard for several years? If it were me, you would already be eating a prison's meal," exclaimed by a netizen, venting out her extreme disappointment for the manager, who treated Lisa badly.
Some netizens also express their concerns for the female idol, which must be undergoing tremendous trust issues right now.
"I'm worried about how Lisa is feeling right now. Money is money, and it can be restored, but once you get betrayed, it is not easy to give someone your trust again," a fan said.
The photos showing their recent interactions aren't just the proofs how Lisa is fond and love her manager that much, but amidst betrayal, she chose to settle it quietly, and instead of putting him into jail, Lisa agreed to a reimbursement plan, apparently taking their bond in consideration.
BLACKPINK's agency as well, YG Entertainment release their official statement regarding the incident and affirm fans that they will do their best to prevent it from happening again.
On the agency's statement, YG confirmed that manager "A" scammed Lisa, who received money from the female idol after promising that he would be investing the money in a real state agency (not knowing that it would be used for gambling instead.)
According to reports, manager "A" targeted Lisa as she's the only foreigner member from the group, as well as she isn't familiar with the economic ideas in Korea.
