TWICE's Jeongyeon today came online on V Live to discuss what actually occurred to her unpublished Mnet MCountdown and SBS Inkigayo fancams.
Previously, it was revealed that fans wondered why most of the TWICE members had posted single fancams of their comeback stage, except Jeongyeon. The TWICE member explained that while shooting for their music video, she suffered from a neck injury.
She promptly sought medical treatment after experiencing numbness from her ears down to her neck and was eventually diagnosed with a herniated disk. In fact, the lead singer of TWICE was pictured wearing the neck support a few times.
Jeongyeon addressed that she personally told the broadcast networks, and including her company JYP Entertainment, not to upload her fancams as she did not want to be seen doing a lousy performance.
She decided to divulge the seriousness of her injury, so she did not cause any worries, though she told ONCEs she is doing fine and is recovering now.
"We discovered out about it (neck injury) a week before the comeback," she stated, having to explain that she had completed an operation. "I had been at the hospital too to shed some light and so I couldn't really start practicing for this comeback. I could barely train at all."
"I dislike the thought of showing ONCEs a flawed performance," she said. "You understand what I am feeling, right? So we decided to ask the channels for their acknowledgment after I started talking with the firm and discussed to them not shooting fancams for me."
As celebrities present at music events, often networks shoot "fancam" videos focused on individual artists.
"This is why there were no fan cams," she stated. She decided to share that she had felt extremely sorry for both the supporters and the network staff after seeing people who blamed the channels.
"Now, I'm doing much better," she said. "This morning, I went back to the hospital and got a shot. So you don't have to worry about me. I'm working hard to make things better."
Fans, on the other hand, responded to this report by commenting:
"Poor Jeongyeon, you GIRL. I just hope she'll do well. I understand that her fans were disappointed that she has no fancam, but I can really see why she doesn't want it published. We all know what antis are like and they won't wait to unleash hell on her. Too many folks already are feeling sad for her."
"I think the bigger problem is that she started to feel the need to start performing with an injury. Clearly, she had already been hurt, or the fancams weren't going to be a problem. It is also their wellbeing that should come first."
"Didn't know she wasn't getting fancams for this! :O lucky for me to know!"
"Makes me tiny bit sad for her supporters but as long as that continues to keep her mental wellbeing in a great spot then that's fantastic, skeptics can go completely bonkers without them having to know this:/"
It was on June 7 when Hashtag #RespectJeongyeon started trending on Twitter as fans are demanding Jungyeon's fancam from both Mnet and SBS after M Countdown and Inkigayo performances of TWICE. Some supporters speculated that Jungyeon's personal request could have been because she has a stye, while others disapprove.
