On June 9, Tuesday, a famous girl group producer was reportedly arrested and charged with sexually assaulting an acquaintance's sister after visiting their home in April and drinking with them until dawn. The identity of that producer has now been revealed.
It is now revealed to be DanDi, the producer who created the famous "Gwiyomi Song." According to a report from Star News, the producer has appeared on several television shows, such as "Show Me The Money 4," "I Can See Your Voice," and, most recently, "Mister Trot."
Dandi produced the iconic "Gwiyomi Song" in 2013, and the song took South Korea by storm as idols danced cutely to song across numerous variety shows. Up to this day, idols still perform their own aegyo acts with the song and is one of the most famous ways to show off their cuteness.
He also produced Badkiz's "Ear Attack," which went viral in 2014 due to the chorus choreography. Numerous idols were also seen dancing to it.
In 2018, he established his own company called SD Entertainment and debuted his own girl group, Saturday, in July of that year.
Following the news of his crimes, however, he was forcibly removed from the company he established. The company stated, "We have decided that DanDi can no longer be apart of the company following his shameful incident. After discussions with him, he decided to resign from the company in May."
Initial reports of the case did not include the producer's name, merely citing that he was a famous producer. The case is described that he sexually assaulted his acquaintance's sister while she was asleep. Though DanDi denied the claims and claimed there was no sexual activity between the two, evidence brought in by the victim showed DNA proof that he was guilty of the crime.
