Being a K-pop idol isn’t always as lovely as it appears to be. Idols have to be able to withstand a lot of hardships even before the group debuts. Once they’ve gained popularity from endless comebacks and promotions, they still encounter unpleasant situations that involve those who call themselves fans. Below is a compilation of incidents where individuals, who claim to be fans of these groups, commit acts that hurt or harm their idols.
TWICE
Girl groups have to endure perverts who take advantage of their outfits. TWICE was attending an event and passing through the crowd through a barricaded path when once netizen caught an event staff taking upskirt photos of the girls as they were passing by. When he was confronted, he stated that his hands were hurting from holding the phone and that it wasn’t what it seems like.
Another incident with TWICE was during their very own fan sign event, and the members were saying their parting words with ONCEs. During Tzuyu’s turn, some fans aggressively and loudly shouted at her, saying not to say anything more and to close her mouth. It was said so clearly that the youngest member became so embarrassed and passed the mic to Jeongyeon.
GFRIEND
Another incident with a hidden camera was during GFRIEND’s fan sign event– the girls themselves were quick enough to notice that one of the fans was wearing glasses with a small hidden camera installed. Yerin even asked the fan if she could inspect the item, which she did. Yerin informed the staff about the possibility of having been secretly filmed and uneasily eyed the fan as they returned to their seat.
SEVENTEEN
A fan, who was later on revealed to be a sasaeng or a stalker fan, got publicly angry at Joshua during their fan sign event. The fan was recorded violently throwing an album and some other object at the idol. The fan continued the action until one of SEVENTEEN’s staff told her to leave the premises. Everyone was left in shock, especially the members.
Girls’ Generation
This is one of the most well-known scary fan encounters. The girls were in the middle of performing their song “Run, Devil, Run” during the Angel Price Music Festival when a male fan from the audience successfully slipped through the barricade and got on stage. The individual attempted to drag an unsuspecting Taeyeon off the scene until the host of the festival could hinder his plans. What’s even scarier is that it got caught on camera.
GOT7’s Jackson
Jackson was reported to be physically injured by one of his sasaengs. The idol was caught in a car accident that involved the fan driving a car and stalking GOT7. Jackson was sent straight to the hospital and was seen limping and supported by a JYPE staff. Later on, the company made a public statement that stalking their artist’s vehicles is dangerous for both the group and the stalker themselves.
EXO
Fans got EXO’s private information and stalked the hotel they were staying at during their overseas trip. Sehun caught the hidden cameras that the stalker fans installed in the hotel gym. He quickly covered his face and informed the staff with him about it.
