The world is currently going through a pandemic caused by COVID-19, and social distancing is now a priority to avoid the risk of catching the virus. During such a hard time for many around the globe, both BTS and TWICE have done their part to combat the virus - both by spreading information and donating to those in need. Now, it seems like Jungkook and Tzuyu are helping in their own little way.
Some of the things COVID-19 has made difficult is going to school. Schools and universities are areas in which people are in close proximity to one another for over 7 hours. The risk of someone being asymptomatic is high, and people need to keep their distance from one another. This university shared photos on how to do so!
Sunway University, a university in Malaysia, shared photos of their classroom on their Instagram account. Instead of being jam-packed with students like it is normally (and definitely doesn't go with social distancing guidelines), big standees of celebrities were placed instead. And it seems that they have seated the standees six feet away from each other, which shows they are practicing social distancing. Some of the notable people include Serena Williams, Hello Kitty, Will Smith, Ed Sheeran, and even Albert Einstein! What caught K-Pop stans eyes, however, are two very famous idols.
TWICE's Tzuyu was seen sitting on the very first row at the lower left side. They have also put another standee of the idol in another area of the university. In that one, they even placed TWICE's official light stick, the Candy Bong, peeking out from her right shoulder!
Jungkook is seen sitting in the third row at the center. He was also placed in another spot at the university, and also added the BTS' light stick - the ARMY Bomb - peeking out from his left shoulder.
The university has called these standees the "Social Distancing Companions", and they will remain at the university to keep the student's company as they enforce proper social distancing rules.
Some students have shared photos of them with the standees. Looks like the "Social Distancing Companions" is busy at work!
BTS has done their part in donating to those affected by the pandemic, Back in June, the boys donated $1 million USD to Live Nation's "Crew Nation" to help support entertainment staff and live concert crew who are unable to work due to the pandemic. Member Suga also donated 100 million Korean won ($380,000 USD) to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association. His donation has caused fans to donate their ticket refunds (as their world tour was canceled due to the pandemic) to the organization. The organization now has more than 8,000 listed donations amount to about 400 million Korean won.
Tzuyu was the first member of TWICE to donate to support those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, donating 50 million won ($58,400 USD) to the Community Chest of Korea. Tzuyu also left a messaged that she hoped everyone would stay healthy. Members Dahyun and Nayeon followed shortly. Their company, JYP Entertainment, donated 500 million Korean won ($584,000) to the Community Chest of Korea.
