YouTuber fforggstans, a K-Pop stan YouTuber and dancer, shared which girl group member had the biggest glow up in their dance skills. Curious to know who they are? Check it out here!
1. Red Velvet's Wendy
Wendy used to be a stiff dancer, only moving one part of her body while the rest of her body stayed still. She lacked fluidity in her dance movements. As someone who usually practiced her vocals, her technique is dancing was little to one. One thing that made her shine on stage was that she always had energy and good facial expressions.
Fans started seeing improvements during their "Umpah Umpah" stages. She now used her energy to create powerful movements when need be. She has a small tendency to over dance, but it's a far cry from being stiff. She now has fluidity in her movements and can control her body better. Her moves are also sharper.
2. IZ*ONE's Sakura
Sakura was a chronic underdancer during IZ*ONE debut, and she exhibited problems with balance and finding her sense of rhythm. It could be because she was used to how she danced when she promoted as a member of HKT48, and had promoted as an idol in Japan for over 10 years without any formal dance training
She pleasantly surprised everyone with IZ*ONE's new comeback, "The Secret Story of the Swan", and her upgraded dance skills. She now has amazing body control and her movements have become much sharper. She now has power in her movements and she has improved her projections, especially in her lower area. She still has yet to show off isolations, body locks, angle displays, and more, but she has definitely improved greatly since "La Vie En Rose".
3. LOONA's Jinsoul
Early into her career, Jinsoul showed difficulty keeping up with choreography. She even displayed difficulties keeping up with the dance for her solo song "Singing in the Rain", which is relatively simple. Her angles were messy and her lower body was stiff. She lacked technique. Despite this, her facial expressions and energy was always high and she knew how to give a good performance.
For LOONA's latest comeback "So What", however, she truly stepped up her game. Her control is body and her body is more fluid, and she is able to show off her flexibility more. She can use her torso, hips, and arms in a way that wasn't messy and she even learned how to properly execute popping. Popping shows amazing shoulder control and projection in angles. She still has difficulty with angles in her legs, but she has definitely shown her growth.
4. Sohye (formerly of I.O.I)
Sohye's dancing skills was a famous case, as it was broadcaster all over Korea. She joined the first season of Produce 101 with no dancing and vocal lessons whatsoever. She came from an acting agency and came to the show with no performance skills but had high energy.
Throughout her time in the show, people saw her growth and with every stage, she developed sharpness in her movements and nice arm angles. She developed her skills with all of her blood, sweat, and tears, and though she still has a long way, her improvement needs to be applauded.
5. TWICE's Tzuyu
Tzuyu was never a bad dancer and was even named TWICE's lead dancer. But due to her height and long limbs, some movements look awkward, and her fluidity wasn't enough to compensate for this flaw. She also had a tendency to over dance until she loses track of her angles, thus causing her dance to look messy.
She showed great improvement for "MORE & MORE". She developed body control in her lower area and her arms started to look less messy. She also stopped overdancing. She also learned how to do hip locks and move her torso in ways fans haven't seen before. There are still some things she could do to improve, like her sharpness and her projection, but she still improved greatly and proved to be people she is capable of handling the lead dancer position
5. (G)I-DLE's Shuhua
Shuhua was a chronic underdancer and many assumed it was because shy on stage. Though she showed off nice facial expressions and charisma, she was stiff and her dancing skills overall were flat. Her torso was surprisingly well developed, however, and she showed off beautiful dance angles. It was just a matter of being more comfortable on stage.
And she did just that when the girls promote "Oh my god"! She showed off her newfound fluidity during the whole performance and developed her hip movements. She also had a newfound control in her lower area. She still tends to underdance and she needs to work on tension, but she definitely had upgraded her dance skills.
