As they have recently passed their 2000th day since their debut, each member was asked to send a message to their past selves. Member Yerin was not able to partake in the promotions since she's taking a break due to health concerns.

Sowon, GFriend's leader, went first, saying, "Sowon. Run away." Everyone laughed at her response and Sowon explained why she said that. She stated, "During our debut, we were so afraid, and I just wanted to tell myself to get some fresh air with her members and do something daring."

Yuju shared that her thoughts were similar to Sowon, saying, "I want to tell myself, 'You'll be able to have fun soon.' During that time, all I focused on was singing."

Umji's messaged to her past self is: "It's okay, this will pass. My training period was short, so I think the time after our debut was a growing period."

Eunha shed tears as she thought about her past self, the time they were preparing for debut. "I want to tell myself to have courage. Back then, I was so timid." Upon hearing Eunha's message to her past self, the other members were seen shedding tears as well and getting emotional.

SinB shared that her response was similar to her other members, saying, "I want to tell myself that I don't to listen to what people say too much."

Seeing the girls of GFriend get emotional, she decided to share some kind words of encouragement, saying, "People will recognize that you spilled sweat and tears 3,000 times to make a song that is over three minutes long."

Other than sending letters to their past selves, the girls expressed their worries on trying such a drastic concept. Their past comebacks had leaned towards the cute, fresh concepts. The girls had started expressing a more mature style when they released "Fever," but their new song "Apple," which Kim Shin Young described as a "refreshing witch" concept, is a complete 18-degree turn from their old styles.

Eunha and Umji expressed their concerns about their transformations. Sowon, however, revealed that she felt confident with the new concept.

The girls also selected members who they thought would be a celebrity no matter what, SinB had selected Yerin, who was not present. Umji had selected Eunha, saying, "I think Eunha's colors are very distinct. We talk frequently about how Eunha's energy doesn't drop quickly. I think that's impressive."

When asked who would have a good life even if she didn't become a celebrity, Umji had selected their leader, Sowon. She explained her choice, saying, "The members have a strong ability to thrive. They'll do well no matter where they go. As GFriend's leader, Sowon guides us well. And yet, before this, she was used to living as the youngest. I think she will succeed no matter where she goes."

GFriend debuted in 2015 under Source Music. During their debut, they won several female rookie awards and gained a huge following despite coming from a small company. The group had their first concert and Asia tour in 2018. In July of the same year, they made their Japanese debut. GFriend consists of six members: Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji.

GFriend just had their comeback, with the title track "Apple," on July 13, 2020. It has been approximately five months since their last return.
