Vevo has just announced the platform's first-ever K-Pop DSCVR artist, AB6IX. They have released a video performance of the group's latest single, "Surreal," which was shot remotely from a studio in Korea. "Surreal" comes from the group's latest EP, "VIVID," which was released back on June 29.
Vevo DSCVR focuses on the development of major artists by giving them a platform for their content and careful curation. Vevo has helped numerous artists boost to stardom and reach wider audiences with their music. Some artists who were part of the Vevo DSCVR series include Billie Eilish, Jhay Cortez, Alessia Cara, and Sam Smith. Vevo continues to help artists at an early stage of their carry by allowing them an avenue to create unique content, bring their ideas to life, and provide them exposure.
AB6IX currently consists of four members: Jeong Woong, Kim Donghyun, Park Woojin, and Lee Daehwi. In 2017, the latter three members mentioned gained popularity following their appearance on the Mnet survival show "Produce 101 Season 2", where Park Woojin and Lee Daehwi made it into the final lineup and debuted with project group WANNA ONE. Following his appearance on the show, Kim Donghyun debuted in the duo group MXM in 2017, released two EP albums and one full-length album. Jeong Woong was known as a "super trainee" in the industry for years, training at one of Korea's biggest entertainment agencies before debuting in AB6IX in May of 2019.
"The goal for DSCVR has always been to support and elevate emerging artists across all genres," said JP Evangelista, SVP Content, Programming and Marketing, Vevo. When talking about AB6IX being introduced to their roster of artists, JP Evangelista said, "Adding AB6IX to our incredible talent's roster for the program solidifies our commitment to making DSCVR a global platform for performers around the world."
AB6IX has also spoken about how happy they are to be part of the Vevo DSCVR family and how they hope they could share their content with people, saying, "We are delighted to be the first K-POP DSCVR artist for Vevo and for having a chance to showcase our performances to several audiences. We hope that our content can give happiness and strength to everyone who needs it at this time."
