Korean netizens on an online community forum dished on which K-pop dances are the best at burning calories. Check them out here!
1. Girls' Generation - "Into The New World"
"Into The New World" is one of the most difficult K-pop dances to date, as it involves a lot of jumping, arm, and hand movements while singing high notes. It is considered one of the choreographies that elevated girl group dances in the industry. The choreography utilizes non-stop arm movement paired alongside constantly moving footwork.
The dance has become so popular that it is often covered in survival shows and special stages for award shows and music charts. Notably, it was used both in "Produce 101" and "Produce 48", though the latter opted for the ballad version for a vocal test. It was covered by GFRIEND, I.O.I, TWICE, and Red Velvet for a special stage at the 2016 KBS Gaon Music Awards. Fromis_9 performed the song at M! Countdown for the shows 600th episode. It was also used in the show "Finding Momoland".
2. Produce 101 - "Pick Me"
"Pick Me" is considered difficult because the girls rarely have time to take a break. As the song requires all the girls to dance at the same time with no one member pausing to sing, it's an almost 4-minute song of non-stop dancing. During the show, many trainees had difficulty keeping up with the pace of the dance. "Pick Me" utilizes a lot of jumps, arm whacking, and even drops to the ground, which means the girls have to be able to left themselves up without touching the ground. That in itself requires a lot of strength in the core and legs.
Additionally, if you chose to sing the song while dancing, it is harder to steady your breath. As the moves themselves require a lot of energy to execute, singing the whole song becomes more tiring.
3. Produce 101 Season 2 - "It's Me (Pick Me)"
"It's Me (Pick Me)", also known as "Nayana" is the theme song of the second season of "Produce 101". As the song is made for male trainees, the dance is considered even harder than the last seasons. The dance for this song requires a lot of technical footwork, which can be tiring and difficult for an inexperienced dancer. Additionally, the dance has a lot of jumps - the boys are in the air for so long, it's like they're flying!
4. MOMOLAND - "Bboom Bboom"
"Bboom Bboom" may look like a simple dance, but it's actually rather tiring! The girls are often seen jumping in the song - in the intro, in the chorus, and even at the end! The dance also requires balance all over the body. When they sway their hips, their arms have to be moving in sync, as well as the torso. It's a dance that requires an immense amount of energy that will surely burn those calories.
