Aerosmith, James Taylor, Jimmy Buffet Will Headline Benefit For Boston Bombing Victims Tonight: Concert Sold Out In Minutes

Aerosmith, James Taylor and Jimmy Buffett will join an all-star lineup of artists who will perform a benefit concert for victims of the Boston Marathon bombings tonight. Tickets for the show sold out within minutes of it being announced on May 6.

Aerosmith, James Taylor and Jimmy Buffett will join Jason Aldean, Boston, Extreme, Godsmack, The J. Geils Band, Carole King and New Kids on the Block at the TD Garden tonight at 7 p.m. Comedians Dane Cook and Steven Wright have also confirmed that they will perform.

The event was kick-started by the boy band New Kids on the Block on May 3. In announcing the concert that will benefit the band’s home town, Donnie Wahlberg said, “I find myself searching for words today. We all feel compelled to fight back, to step up. As artists, this is our way to do it. Hopefully this event will not only raise money, but spirits as well.”

The marathon benefit concert will benefit One Fund Boston and the donations will be distributed to the survivors of the April 15 bombings and the families of the three people who were killed in the attack.

One Fund Boston was established by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. The compensation fund currently has more than $31 million in donations.

James Taylor, who is also a Boston local, already gave a performance at a Boston attack-related event. The singer-songwriter most famous for his rendition of Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend” played a memorial service for Sean Collier, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus police officer who is believed to have been shot by one of the marathon bombers.

Neil Diamond performed his sixties hit “Sweet Caroline” at the Boston Red Sox’s first home game after the attacks.

James Taylor said, "The One Fund event at the Garden this May 30th is destined to be a true Boston landmark...everyone involved has responded from the heart in a spontaneous and simultaneous desire to be there, and to do what we can for the city we love. I am honored to be a part of it, and...I can't wait."
