Jay Chou girlfriend rumors have been running wild for the past year, and when asked about Kun Ling, who has been rumored to be his longtime girlfriend and soon-to-be fiancé, Jay Chou denied such claims and dodged questions about his relationship status.

Jay Chou recently held a press conference for his newest film, "RooFToP," for which he was both the director and lead actor.

At the press conference, the lead actress who in the film was revealed to be Li Xin Ai, whose appearance resembles Jay Chou's rumored girlfriend, Kun Ling.

When asked at the conference about his relationships with both Li Xin Ai and Kun Ling, the singer-actor responded by saying that he has been taking care of Li Xin Ai while filming for the movie, but emphasized that the two are simply co-stars, without any romantic feelings.

Jay Chou further said that he and Kun Ling are just friends. In an attempt to dodge any more questions about his relationship status, Jay Chou told reporters not to dig out any more gossip, saying that such action is disrespectful and takes attention away from the his upcoming film.

It has been six years since Jay Chou last released his directed film, "Secret," which was a big hit in Asia. His latest film, "RooFToP" has been chosen as the closing night presentation of the 2013 New York Asian Film Festival.

Jay Chou made his acting debut in the U.S. two years ago with "The Green Hornet," which received mixed reviews.

"RooFToP" is a youthful, kung-fu, romantic comedy that is said to resemble one of the most popular Taiwanse films of 2010, "Monga."

Jay Chou said at the press conference, "What I want to convey in 'RooFTop' this time is very simple - I want to portray happiness. I think right now, everyone's too stressed by life, so I wish the audience who sees this movie can feel happy, relaxed, and maybe tear a bit too."

"RooFToP" is also expected to hit theaters in America this summer.
