On the October 8 episode of MBN's new documentary-style show "Miss Back", former Stellar member Gayoung opened up about the trauma she developed as she promoted with a provocative, sexy concept.

Gayoung made her debut as a member of Stellar back in 2011. The group originally did not promote with a sexy concept - they actually had an innocent concept, which Gayoung had wanted. She said, "It was my dream to be part of an innocent girl group, but we were not getting that much recognition. That is why we began promoting a provocative concept. The reason I could not be too sad nor too happy is that we suddenly had more activities thereafter. So we kept on promoting with a provocative concept."

Gayoung revealed the first time they were given provocative clothing for their music video, she and the other member flat out refused to wear it. She revealed, "On the day of the music video filming, we strongly opposed wearing such provocative clothing. We told them there was no way we could dance in them. However, the producers told us to just try it on before saying we couldn't. In the end, they released those pictures. Because of the trauma, I endured at the time, I still can't wear short-sleeved shirts or short pants."

Gayoung's mother had also revealed that she was strongly opposed to her daughter becoming a singer. Gayoung was an honor student and her mother had hoped she would pursue an Ivy League education rather than a career as a musician. "I cried a lot," she revealed. "I did not know why she had to do such things."

In tears, Gayoung revealed that while she was promoting with Stellar's provocative concept, her mother had to hear people saying, "Why is your daughter doing such things?"

Host Song Eun Yi couldn't help but shed tears after hearing Gayoung's story. "I am sorry that the memories of your youth are ruined and have become something you would want to forget all because of people who do not deserve called adults," she said.

Stellar originally debuted with a quirky, cute, and innocent concept. However, as the company was struggling financially due to their albums flopping, they transitioned to a provocative concept instead. Though they received controversy and backlash for the concept, it made them more well-known.

In 2017, Gayoung left Stellar and The Entertainment Pascal after choosing not to renew her contract. In 2018, she opened up a cafe called "Hartogela" and is running it herself. That same year, she revealed in an interview that while she and her members hated the provocative concept they promoted with, they felt pressure to do as their company said. She revealed in that same interview that she would never want to be an idol again.

Gayoung is now active as an actress.
