BLACKPINK Tops The Billboard Artist 100 Chart for The First Time

On October 13, Tuesday, it was announced that BLACKPINK has topped the Billboard Artist 100 chart, jumping up 64 spots.

This is the first time in BLACKPINK's career for them to be named as the number one music act in the United States. On top of topping the Billboard Artist 100 chart, "THE ALBUM" earned number one on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart and number 2 on the overall Billboard 200 chart.

The title track off of "THE ALBUM", "Lovesick Girls", also made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 charts at number 59.

The Billboard Artist 100 chart ranks the current top artist in America based on their album sales, song consumption, and social media activity. Prior to charting at number one, BLACKPINK has spent a total of 18 weeks on the chart. Prior to hitting number one, the group's last peak was at number 19.

This is not the first record BLACKPINK has broken recently. Previously, "THE ALBUM" peaked at number two on the United Kingdom album charts, with "Lovesick Girls" debuting at number 40 on the United Kingdom digital singles charts. "THE ALBUM" also debute at number seven on Germany's music charts. This is the highest a K-pop girl group has ever charted in these countries. Both the United Kingdom and Germany are considered one of the world's biggest music markets.

Additionally, BLACKPINK broke the record for the highest recorded physical albums sales in a day, according to the Hanteo Chart. Within the first day of their first-ever full-length album's release, BLACKPINK sold over 500,000 copies, thus beating IZ*ONE's record of over 300,000 copies. This does not include their sales in the United States and Europe, meaning the number could possibly be higher.

Prior to the release of "THE ALBUM", BLACKPINK surpassed one million pre-orders, garnering over 800,000 thousand pre-orders within the first six days of its opening.

Congratulations, BLACKPINK!
