BLACKPINK Jisoo Reveals She Was Once Treated Like an Outcast for Being “Ugly” – Now She's Top K-Pop Visual

On Wednesday, the world-famous K-pop group BLACKPINK teamed up with Netflix and released their first-ever K-pop act's documentary, titled "BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky."

The documentary showcased their four-year journey which includes unveiling their hardships prior to debut the people who helped them overcome it, their life amidst success, and reveals personal feelings regarding the pressure and difficulties they have been having since their stellar career started.

The documentary also reveals the insecurities, struggles, and true personalities of each member behind the limelight, and their life isn't always "pink" and lively.

Jisoo, the main visual and vocals of the group confessed how she was actually treated like an outcast on the segment where she's having a makeup lesson with Maeng, BLACKPINK's make-up artist.

She said, "When I was younger, my relatives treated me like an outcast because I was ugly. They called me a monkey."

Viewers were indeed flustered to hear it coming from Jisoo, as she's literally one of the most beautiful K-pop idols who's always praised for having the "Miss Korea" face. Fans thought that it was apparently a joke from her relatives, which is a common trait among Asians, which is to tease their own relatives, but it seems like Jisoo carries the thought of being the "ugly duckling" of the family, given how superior her sister and brother's visuals are.

Nevertheless, Jisoo's supporters, particularly BLINKs, commend Maeng for comforting Jisoo, saying, "It's okay, you are the prettiest one now," which put a genuine smile on Jisoo's face.

Fans and netizens also expressed their love and praise to Jisoo on social media, saying how beautiful she is inside and out.

Jisoo may be "ugly" to her relatives, but she truly shines and she's not only a top-notch visual and vocals in the K-pop scene, but she's also dominating the fashion industry with her beauty, elegant yet pure image as the global ambassador of Dior and model for Cartier.

In particular, the idol is also set to make more fans and netizens fall in love with her enchanting and unique charms as she challenged herself on her main lead acting debut co-starring with actor Jung Hae In for the upcoming Korean drama, "Snow Drop."

On the other hand, Jisoo is also slaying the K-pop world as a member of the girl group BLACKPINK, which recently broke various records and re-written the history with new recognitions as they released their first full-length album, "The Album."

As part of their album promotions, BLACKPINK is set to join "Knowing Bros" again after three years and features their fun and exciting personalities along with the comedians and entertainment hosts.

Also, YG Entertainment announced on October 14 that "TikTok Stage with Black Pink" will be broadcast live on TikTok for about 100 minutes from 7 PM KST via @TikTok_Stage.

On the same day, the agency of the group also announced that BLACKPINK's "KILL THIS LOVE" dance practice video surpassed 300 Million views on YouTube which was released in 2019.
