RED VELVET's Wendy Gives Members a Special Gift to Make Up For Her Absence
Wendy felt bad about being absent, so she has sent a special gift to her fellow members.
RED VELVET is currently featured in a variety show "BU:QUEST," in which members complete various tasks and visit numerous new places. The said program started airing on October 20. In the first episode, the female group headed to a theme park and a café and took the time to rest at their dormitory, where they talked about different topics and even played a few games.
It can be seen that only four members were present in the first segment since RED VELVET's Wendy is still unable to join the group as she is still getting better. The artist accidentally fell during rehearsals for SBS's Gayodaejeon last year, causing serious injuries. Because of this, she felt sorry for being absent, so she prepared her groupmate a special lunchbox, which she sent along with a letter and a stuffed teddy bear.
Wendy's special gifts were placed in the car that RED VELVET will use for their day trip during that time. Based on Seulgi's reaction, she was evidently surprised. Irene was the one who took the letter and read it out loud for other members to hear.
The letter states, "To all members, I'm sorry I could not join you for your BU:QUEST trip. Have fun, and think of me from time to time. Since I cannot attend, I will compensate with snacks. Remember me while you eat it! (You cannot eat it if you don't think about me). Thank you always, and I love you."
After Irene read Wendy's sweet message, it can be seen how touched the members were. Seulgi and Irene even took a photo of the letter while Joy was holding the teddy bear, and she couldn't help but smile.
Fans who watched the episode were also touched by the sweet act of RED VELVET's Wendy. One fan posted a video on Twitter showing that touching moment and other ReVeluvs commented crying emojis and gifs as well as short comments like, "Awww she is so sweet," "Our angel," and "I really hope she gets perfectly fine soon. It has been really long, and she doesn't deserve this. I miss her."
Wendy has been absent from RED VELVET activities since December 25, 2019. On April 3 this year, the group's agency SM Entertainment updated fans about the singer's current condition. The label stated that she is still receiving hospital treatment, yet she has improved a lot already.
The K-Pop girl group has still not made a comeback since Wendy's accident. Their last release was on December 23 with "The Reve Festival: Finale," featuring its lead single "Psycho. Following this, the group held their third tour, 'La Rouge,' which kicked off in Seoul on November 23 and 24. The last stop was supposed to be in Yokohama, but the tour was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Irene and Seulgi released their first extended play, "Monster, on July 6, as RED VELVET's very first sub-unit.
