TWICE's Producer Unveils Why Nayeon Always Sings the First Lines
TWICE's producer, Black Eyed Pilseung, has finally revealed why Nayeon often starts most of the group's songs.
On October 21, MC and comedian Kim Gura interviewed Black Eyed Pilseung, who is one of the leading producers in South Korea. TWICE is one of the many groups for which he has been producing songs. Not to mention, he also wrote several of the K-pop girl group's hits, such as the debut song "Like Ooh-Aah, "Cheer Up, "TT, "Likey, and "Fancy.
In response to fans' questions regarding TWICE's songs always beginning with Nayeon, Pilseung said Nayeon has the jolliest and freshest voice among the members. And as a fundamental rule, it is common for members that are the lead or main vocalist to take the opening line in tracks. In that way, people will be drawn to it.
The producer then mentioned that Jihyo is also an excellent candidate for the first lines. However, he added that she possesses a huskier voice, which is much better for the chorus. He also thinks that the artist is just too good at singing. Pilseung further stated that Nayeon fits the overall image and concept for TWICE, so he always chooses her to sing the opening part.
Moreover, Black Eyed Pilseung mentioned that the most significant sections of a song for an idol are the beginning, the refrain, and the ending. While Nayeon commonly gets the first part of the song, she often sings the refrain alongside Jihyo. The last portion depends on which member the line matches best.
TWICE's Nayeon is the center and one of the lead vocalists of the group. The first time TWICE's Nayeon sang the first part of a song is their debut with "Like Ooh-Aah. And since it has been noted that she has the bubbliest voice, she continued to sing first in the group's following songs, such as "1 to 10, "Cheer Up, "TT, "Likey, "Dance The Night Away, "Say Yes, "Heart Shaker, "Jelly Jelly, "Knock Knock, "What Is Love? "Fancy, and "More & More.
Not to mention, TWICE is about to make a comeback this October. If Nayeon would get the first part of their new song again, ONCE already knows why. Their upcoming comeback marks their second this year, and they're first after six months since "More & More last April 20, the Korean female group will be releasing their second Korean studio album entitled "Eyes Wide Open. It consists of thirteen songs, including the lead track "I Can't Stop Me.
In the past weeks, TWICE has been teasing fans with their new music through teaser images, digital album cover, MV stills, and they even performed the b-side "Say Something during their special live stream on October 20, which was the group's fifth anniversary of debut. Also, TWICE has already dropped a music video teaser on October 21. The clip lasts for about a minute, and it showcases the members' unparalleled beauty.
Moreover, the new album is expected to be out on October 26 at 6 p.m. KST. Stay tuned for more updates!
