SEVENTEEN's DK revealed his supposed-to-be stage names, as well as Mingyu's.
The K-Pop boy group appeared as guests on the October 24 segment of the famous JTBC variety program Knowing Bros. While SEVENTEEN re-introduce themselves in the show, the members explained what their stage names mean.
Woozi shared that his real name is Jihoon, and at their agency, he was usually called 'Uri Jihoonie,' which means 'our Jihoonie.' The phrase was then shortened into 'Woozi.' Meanwhile, DK revealed that Dokyeom, his current Korean stage name, was not really meant for him but Mingyu. He also mentioned that he had plenty of potential stage names, and one of them was 'Yong Pal.'
He added, "Then there was 8Light, and then I almost became The8." When the cast of Knowing Bros asked what those names mean, SEVENTEEN's DK responded, "' Yong Pal' means the powerful vocals of eight dragons, and that name later became 'The8,' which means 'Dragon Eight'.
DK further stated that Mingyu ended up using his birth name, and as for him, the stage name 'Dokyeom' was given to him.
Throughout the program, SEVENTEEN talked about how close their parents are with the other members. Joshua even showcased his ability to do a handstand for a long period. One of the show hosts even suggested that Joshua and three of his fellow SEVENTEEN members do a short scenario, in which all four of them pass by the classroom with Joshua walking in a handstand. Additionally, the group performed their latest track "HOME;RUN.
SEVENTEEN recently made a comeback with their special album "; [semicolon] together with the title track entitled "HOME;RUN. The album and the music video for the lead single were released on October 19. "HOME;RUN is described as a swing-based dance song that conveys the passion of youth and gives a warm message. During the process of making the track, SEVENTEEN's Woozi, Vernon, and Seungkwan participated in writing the lyrics, alongside BUMZU. Woozi and BUMZU also took part in composing the track, along with Nmore.
Before "; [semicolon] was out, it was reported that the pre-orders for the album reached more than 1 million, making it the group's second album to hit such number - the first one is "Heng:garæ, which is also a new album. In addition, the music video of "HOME; RUN is about to reach 25 million views just a week after it was uploaded.
The boy band's latest album marks their second Korean release and their third one overall this year. On April 1, SEVENTEEN launched its second Japanese track "Fallin' Flower, which landed No. 1 on Billboard's Japan Hot 100 Chart and was able to sell more than 400,000 copies in just one week after its release.
On June 22, the South Korean boy band unveiled their eighth extended play called "Heng:garæ, which is consists of six tracks including the lead single "Left & Right. In all songs, SEVENTEEN members, such as Woozi, Vernon, Wonwoo, S. Coups, Hoshi, and Mingyu took part in the lyric-writing process, and a few of them engaged in composing and arranging the songs.
