Wannable's dream of seeing Wanna One members together might happen before the year ends!
On Nov. 4, multiple music officials stated that CJ ENM, the label that managed the popular disbanded K-pop boy group, recently proposed a reunion performance for Wanna One while planning its own music festival '2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2020 MAMA).'
This idea was from the organizers of MAMA that are aware of the continued support of the fans, which they saw from the previous joint stage of the five former Wanna One members, namely Jaehwan, Sungwoon, Jihoon, Daehwi, and Woojin, at the 'KCON: TACT season 2 that was held online last month.
On Nov. 5, CJ ENM said, "We are in discussions for Wanna One's reunion performance, but nothing has been decided as of yet."
After the KCON performance, the interest in the K- Pop boy group has increased significantly. The self-analysis figure exceeded 9,000. It rose sharply from the average 2,500 level, confirming the consistent love and support of the fans for Wanna One.
In addition, according to the search term analysis site Black Kiwi, the assumed 'Wanna One' search volume this month will accelerate by 20.24% compared to the previous month.
Not to mention, the number of performances that bring Wanna One members together at events has also increased strikingly. Last Aug. 4, five of the former Wanna One members reunited for a stage on the '2020 Golden Wave Concert' that was broadcasted through V Live. These members include Bae Jinyoung, Park Woojin, Lee Daehwi, Park Jihoon, and Kim Jaehwan.
Apart from that, Ha Sungwoon, Kim Jaehwan, and Park Jihoon appeared at the Chuseok special MBC 'Idol Star Championship' where they teamed up and participated in mobile game competitions.
Wanna One was a project group that was created by CJ E&M through the second season of the reality show 'Produce 101' that took place from April 7 to June 16, 2017. The boy band is consists of 11 members, namely Kang Daniel, Lee Daehwi, Park Jihoon, Ong Seongwu, Kim Jaehwan, Lai Kuanlin, Park Woojin, Yoon Jisung, Bae Jinyoung, Hwang Minhyun, and Ha Sungwoon.
Out of the original 101 trainees who participated in the competition, the final 11 were determined through audience voting. The 11 trainees then signed a contract with YMC Entertainment under the group name Wanna One. The boy band officially made its debut at an event called 'Wanna One Premier Show-Con' on August 7, 2017. The debut extended play '1x1=1 (To Be One)' was released the next day along with its title track 'Energetic.'
Besides the EP, two music videos were launched for the group's debut, for 'Energetic' and 'Burn It Up.' Following the release of '1x1=1 (To Be One) plus its repackaged edition, Wanna One became the third Korean act to sell a million copies of their debut album.
Wanna One's contract ended on Dec. 18, 2018, but the group still appeared in year-end shows and award ceremonies throughout Jan. 2019. The boy band concluded their group activities with a final concert called 'Therefore,' which took place for four days, wrapping up on Jan. 27, 2019.
