As the world prepares for his return, BROOKLYN raises the stakes with a new teaser for his comeback single "Imagine."
The South Korean solo artist has uploaded the new trailer on his official YouTube channel Monday, November 9 - a week ahead of the new single's release on Friday, November 13.
Both exciting and intriguing, the 24-second teaser with a vertical panning shot of a "Silence is Golden" sculpture. The short video then shows in quick progression the background that will definitely be used in the music video itself, each detail stressed by colored lights. In one shot, a hand is seen grasping what appears to be a pentagram-themed pendant. A clear shot of BROOKLYN, seated in an ornate chair with blue upholster, appears for a flash before focusing on a red wall painting.
As the instrumental from BROOKLYN's track grows more upbeat, additional visuals are revealed. As the crescendo abruptly ends, the teaser holds still to an announcement that read: "New Single. Imagine. 2020.11.13 6PM."
The same teaser was shared on his Instagram account, met with supportive fan comments. Fans expressed love, excitement, and support in what is definitely a pleasant surprise to Butterflies, or his official fanbase, around the world.
"I'm impressed to see how much you've improved in such a few time," one commenter wrote on IG. Fans mostly noticed how the visuals are strikingly different compared to those found in the music video for "Young Love."
The latest teaser from BROOKLYN offers details that seem to be directly tied to the actual music video. It follows the song's title reveal last Halloween, with fans noting the apparent dark themes of "Imagine" strongly contrasting the colorful, youthful visuals from his debut "Young Love," released last August 9, 2019.
Brooklyn Juliana: A Complete K-Pop Package
According to his website, this rising star has blue eyes - a rare feature even among K-Pop idols - which were brought to the forefront thanks to his equally vibrant "Young Love" music video. With his first solo track, BROOKLYN is the first-ever KPop act to have his debut single sung entirely in English.
His road as an artist has begun long before his solo debut. In 2017, BROOKLYN collaborated with his longtime friend and Korean hip-hop artist Ki Hyun "Keezy" Lee. The duo released the track "Nothing I Won't Do," with Keezy's bars and BROOKLYN's vocals.
Back in July, in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, he held a mini-concert for fans around the world. Scheduled on July 11, 6PM in Seoul, South Korea - Butterflies were able to watch him perform his singles "Nothing I Won't Do," "If You Don't Mind," and "Young Love," as well as his cover of Lee Hi's 2016 single "Breathe."
BROOKLYN, fully known as Brooklyn Juliana, was born in Bangkok, Thailand on November 20, 1999 to Korean parents who temporarily lived in Thailand for work. The multilingual artist can fluently speak English and Japanese, in addition to his native Korean.
