Harry Styles BFF Nick Grimshaw Provokes One Direction Fans, Says No To Band Performing At Glastonbury

Despite reportedly being BFFs with One Direction member Harry Styles, Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw provoked "directioners" everywhere by proclaiming the pop act does not deserve to perform at Glastonbury Festival.

"I don't think One Direction's music sounds like the stuff that is historically supported by Glastonbury."

The DJ, who will be responsible for BBC's coverage for the festival this year, also left out other acts, saying only "incredible artists" should feature.

"I don't think Take That should do it," added Grimshaw.

"I think Gary Barlow is really great at writing songs. I think he's good, I don't think I really want to see Howard Donald on the Pyramid Stage."

While Grimshaw and Styles have be reported to be best buds, this is not the first time Grimshaw has spoken candidly about One Direction's fame.

"It's so boring to be asked about him," said Grimshaw to SugarScope regarding incessant questions regarding his friendship with Styles.

"I just think it makes me look like a dickhead because I'm there saying: 'I know Harry Styles'."

And while fans are reportedly angered by the statements, others have also agreed with One Direction's incompatibility with Glastonbury.

"I don't think there should be a place for Nick Grimshaw at Glastonbury either," commented Facebook user Alex Schulte.

Meanwhile, Grimshaw has given his vote of confidence for acts like Beyonce and Rihanna for Glastonbury.

"People were a bit like 'Should she be playing Glastonbury?' because she isn't a man with a guitar," said Grimshaw regarding Beyonce's 2011 appearance at the festival.

"But she killed it."

Glastonbury 2013 is set to go from June 28 to 30 in Somerset with musical acts such as Rita Ora, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, Mumord & Sons, and Vampire Weekend.

But no One Direction quite yet.
