ATEEZ rapper Mingi is taking a break from promotional activities to focus on his mental health, which has taken a toll on him. He has recently been diagnosed with severe anxiety and will thus be taking time off to recuperate.
According to KQ Entertainment, ATEEZ's agency, Mingi recently started feeling anxiety symptoms that he had never experienced before. The rapper opened up these issues with the company as he had previously been taken to a hospital to treat the disorder. The doctor then advised the rapper to rest and explained that it is crucial that he take a break as of the moment.
Due to the doctor's advice, the other ATEEZ members and the company have decided to let Mingi take a break to recover fully. Therefore, he will not be seen on ATEEZ's promotions--there will be only seven members group in the meantime.
The company promised fans that they will update them about Mingi's health status and announce once he is fully recovered and ready to join the group's activities and promotions. So, for now, he needs to focus =on getting better as the company continues supporting him. The company asked ATINYs to send their love and support to Mingi for his fast recovery.
Mingi was born on August 19, 1999. He is the rapper and dancer of the South Korean boy band ATEEZ. In October 2017, trainees from KQ Entertainment auditioned for the survival reality show "MIXNINE," wherein Mingi was one of the four boys that passed the audition. He ranked 23rd in the program's "Just Dance" showcase but was eliminated in the seventh episode.
The rapper then debuted in ATEEZ on October 24, 2018, with the songs "Treasure" and "Pirate King." On July 8, 2019, ATEEZ signed with USA record label RCA Records. The group consists of eight members: Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho. As rookies, Ateez were recipients of the Next Generation Award at the 2019 Golden Disc Awards and were also named Worldwide Fans' Choice at the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).
The group was also given the title of "4th Generation Leaders" by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. On May 8, the Korean Cultural and Information Service (KOCIS)-an affiliate of the Ministry of Sports, Culture, and Tourism-named Ateez as their 2020 promotional ambassador, making them official ambassadors of Korean culture and tourism abroad.
As part of their ambassadorship, ATEEZ participated in the "Overcome Together" relay challenge to encourage safe habits for avoiding COVID-19 and preventing infection. Unable to interact with fans in person, ATEEZ held a free, virtual concert called "Crescent Party" on V Live, with over 1.4 million recorded viewers tuning in to the live event on May 30. This was the first of its kind, especially because it was a free live concert. On June 26, they performed both the opening and closing stages at "KCON:TACT 2020," where they also held a virtual meet-and-greet with fans.
On August 29, ATEEZ appeared on the prestigious South Korean television program "Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend," where they performed a cover of Turbo's "Black Cat Nero," and won the episode based on the votes made by 20 judges. This win made them the first fourth-generation group to win on the program and the sixth idol group overall!
Mingi is one of the members that contributed to ATEEZ's success. With that, it is really important that he recovers and finds mental stability to return promoting with the group.
We wish Mingi all the best for his recovery, and we hope he gets well soon!
