MONSTA X continues to dominate the global K-Pop scene with their latest album "Fatal Love" and its lead single "Love Killa," The members share their insights and gratitude to everyone who made it possible.
Since their third studio album's release last Nov. 2, the six-piece boy group has already won twice: once in the SBS MTV "The Show" on Nov. 10 and MBC M's "Show Champion" on Nov. 11. Additionally, "Fatal Love" currently sits on top of the Gaon Music Chart (Week 45, 2020).
The ten-track album marks a large stride for MONSTA X members, under Starship Entertainment, with the members playing a more active role in the composition of the songs. Hyungwon, credited as DJ H.ONE, produced the track "Nobody Else" - a song he also wrote. and composed. Joohoney also had the same writing, composing, and production credits for "Beastmode" and "Stand Together." IM had worked on the single "Night View," receiving credits for lyrics, music, and the song's arrangement.
In a recent Q&A session, MONSTA X shares their insights about their latest album.
When asked by the interviewer how they feel about the release of "Fatal Love," which marks their comeback after six months and their third studio album in two years, Shownu said: "I would like to say thank you so much to our hard-working members. I hope we can finish this album well as we always do. I didn't know that time passed because I did a lot of activities during the break, but thank you for waiting. We'll do our best for the rest of the promotions."
Hyungwon, on the other hand, added: "MONSTA X members made this album thinking that we should go back to the beginning. We worked that hard and prepared a lot for the stage. It's especially refreshing to include the song I produced for the first time in the album."
Next, the group members were asked if they tried to change in their latest album. Jooheon explains that their music "used to be very hard and powerful, but the songs in this album have a more secretive and soft feel." He added: "There is enough charm for those who loved our group's music to enjoy, and it adds to the relaxedness that MONSTA X has grown. In short, I think it's turned more deadly."
Shownu agrees, saying: "The first thing that comes to mind when you think of MONSTA X is a strong performance, but I wanted to show you something new with this album."
The members were also asked to introduce the song "Love Killa," which is the lead single in the album. Minhyuk, speaking on behalf of the group, said that the song represents their group's change in the album. While their previous works mostly talked about sympathy or consolation, "Love Killa" draws more on a love that makes you want to throw everything else. "You'll get a new feeling with a dark sound and an emotional melody," Minhyuk added.
Lastly, in a message to their fans, I.M. said: "Unfortunately, we can't do overseas activities due to COVID-19, so we're preparing a lot to communicate with global fans. We're preparing a lot for MONBEBE to be happy. Please wait a little longer. We'll try our best to find you in various ways."
