The K-Pop girl group has a new project ahead, and it involves numerous cities across the globe.

BLACKPINK had a surprise announcement!

On Nov. 23, a video teaser that runs for about 30 seconds was uploaded on the quartet's official social media accounts. It shows satellite view photos of major cities around the world, along with its local time. It started with Seoul, followed by Paris, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg, New York, London, Istanbul, Mexico City, Amsterdam, Singapore, Jakarta, etc. The clip features BLACKPINK's hit song "How You Like That".

Toward the end of the video teaser, a pink crown was placed over the earth, implying that the girl group has something prepared for the fans all over the world. More information about the project is yet to be announced. Although, the teaser was posted with the words "Coming soon!" in the caption.

BLACKPINK has solidified its dominant position in the global market through different activities this year. Last May, YG Entertainment's female act had a collaboration with American singer Lady Gaga for the single "Sour Candy," which is included in the latter's sixth studio album, "Chromatica." Upon its release, the track entered music charts in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

Following this, BLACKPINK released the song "How You Like That" in June. It peaked at No. 1 on the Gaon digital, streaming, and download charts on the second week after it was launched. It also placed first in YouTube Music's Global Top 10 Songs of Summer 2020. Hence BLACKPINK took home the "Song of Summer" award at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards. This makes the band the first-ever Korean female act to win at the said show.

In addition to this, the music video for "How You Like That" became the fastest MV of a South Korean group to reach 650 million views. It only took four months, 24 days, and one hour to attain the milestone. BLACKPINK broke their own record - the previous record-holder was the MV for "Kill This Love," which achieved the feat in seven months, 10 days, and 20 hours.

In August, the group released another collaboration single titled "Ice Cream," which features American singer Selena Gomez. Then, in October, BLACKPINK's most-anticipated studio album "The Album" was launched. Through this album, the quartet became the very first million-selling K-Pop girl group after selling roughly 1.2 million copies in less than a month after its release.

The band's achievement didn't stop there, as BLACKPINK made history as the music video for "DDU-DU DDU-DU" became the first-ever MV of a K-Pop group, hitting 1.4 billion views on Nov. 23 KST. It was revealed on June 15, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. KST, which means it took only more than two years, five months, seven days, and nine hours to gain the milestone.

In other news, it was announced that BLACKPINK will be receiving the "Group of the Year" award at Variety Hitmakers 2020. This marks the quartet's very first time to win the title.
