SM Entertainment's rookie group Aespa has made their first-ever radio show appearance, and the members have shared interesting facts about themselves.
On Dec. 2, Aespa appeared as guests on the radio program called "Kim Young Chul's Power FM." During the broadcast, the members revealed some pieces of information about each other. At one point, Aespa said that even though they woke up early for the radio show, the members usually wake up late. Kim Young Chul then asked who among them is most likely to sleep in and the group revealed it's Ningning.
Aespa's Karina said that Ningning is still a baby that's why she sleeps a lot. Ningning explained, "I still can't hear the alarm very well even if I already increased the volume."
After some time, Karina unveiled what her specialty is. She said that she can pick up items such as bobby pins and a TV remote with her feet. The girls went on to say that Winter has a newfound habit of singing by herself. Ningning detailed, "We normally just look at our phones while waiting for our turn to film our music show stage, but Winter sings by herself. She will sing for like two hours. She would sing K-Pop songs and all kinds of genres."
Winter then shared that she only found out about her singing habit recently and that she seems to do it unconsciously. Another fun fact about Aespa's Winter is that she was born on New Year's Day, 2001.
Ningning also revealed what her favorite food is, saying that she loves sundaeguk (blood sausage soup). "I usually eat it with red pepper powder, chili peppers, chives, and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi). I start eating it with kkakdugi and I also soak my rice in the soup," she said.
Winter and Karina are both Koreans, while Giselle is from Japan, while Ningning is from China. In terms of speaking the Korean language, Giselle said, "My mom is Korean, so I've used Korean since I was young." Ningning, on the other hand, stated, "I came to Korea in 2016, but Korean is still difficult. Like, when I sing my part 'the enchanting you,' the pronunciation is too hard."
Apart from these fun facts, Aespa also talked about their debut on the radio show, particularly their futuristic avatar concept. Aespa's Giselle said that she sees the avatars like their twins that came from a fictional world created out of data. And, Ningning shared that she was so surprised to hear her avatar sing in the same voice as her.
Aespa is a four-member female act formed by SM Entertainment and has made its debut on Nov. 17 with the digital song "Black Mamba." The quartet is the first girl group of the company after six years since Red Velvet's debut in 2014. The music video for "Black Mamba" has achieved an impressive record with its 24-hour view count on YouTube. It reached 21 million views, making it the most-viewed debut MV of a K-pop group.
In addition, "Black Mamba" rose to No. 45 on Billboard 200. It has been on the chart for two weeks in a row. It also topped China's QQ Music and Kuwo Music's weekly charts for two consecutive weeks.
