Cube Entertainment Postpones PENTAGON Hui's Military Enlistment

PENTAGON's Hui will not be enlisting in the military on his scheduled date.

On Nov. 28, PENTAGON underwent testing for COVID-19 after member Yeo One has crossed paths with a confirmed COVID-19 carrier. That same day, Yeo One was revealed to have tested negative. On Dec. 2, the remaining members of the group all received a negative test result as well. However, they are currently under self-quarantine by the official guidelines for COVID-19 prevention.

Also, upon learning about Yeo One crossing paths with someone confirmed to be positive for COVID-19, PENTAGON's online concert "WE L:VE" was postponed later. It was supposed to take place last Nov. 29.

Considering the COVID-19 threat, Cube Entertainment, PENTAGON's management agency, has also decided to postpone Hui's military enlistment. According to the official statement released on Dec. 2, PENTAGON's Hui participated in the Nov. 28 segment of a music show ("Music Core"). A positive coronavirus case was determined among the performers. Hence, Hui's enlistment date has been put off starting from Dec. 3, and the new date will be announced in due course.

PENTAGON's Hui was scheduled to start his mandatory military service on Dec. 3. He is the second member of the band to enlist, following Jinho, who began his defense duties in May.

The lineup of performing artists for the "Music Core" episode on Nov. 28 includes the boy group UP10TION, whose members Bitto and Kogyeol were recently unveiled to be positive for COVID-19. PENTAGON Hui and other K-Pop groups and soloists who were also present that day have all been tested for coronavirus and have adjusted their schedules as a precautionary measure.

In the past days, some Korean acts, including Stray Kids, CNBLUE, Norazo, NCT, aespa, STAYC, DRIPPIN, LUCY, TREASURE, and BTOB 4U, have shared that they all tested negative for COVID-19.

Prior to the COVID-19 case, PENTAGON's Hui, along with ASTRO's MJ, presented a special stage on "Music Core", singing the song titled "Boyish Sensibility." This served as the singer's moment to bid farewell before he enlists in the military.

Lee Hoetaek, commonly called by his stage name Hui, is the leader and main vocalist of PENTAGON. He was also one of the members of the trio Triple H, along with former bandmate E'Dawn and former labelmate Hyuna, who both left Cube Entertainment in 2018 following their dating news.

Hui often participates in writing the lyrics and producing the majority of PENTAGON's songs. The boy group's "Shine" and "Naughty Boy," as well as Wanna One's "Energetic," Produce 101 Season 2 hit song "Never," and WEi's "Twilight" from its debut album are only a few of his best-known works. Ever since he debuted, Hui has been taking part in creating and producing songs for numerous artists.

PENTAGON's Hui also appeared in different variety shows and television competition programs. He is currently one of the contestants on MBN's new concept variety music game show called Lotto Singer, which began airing in October. He is one of the 45 top singers in different music genres in the show, and he has the highest score so far.
