A South Korean student taking the nationwide "College Scholastic Ability Test" (CSAT) was able to answer a question thanks to his love for Girls' Generation member Taeyeon! Read more about it here.
On Thursday, Dec. 3, high school seniors in South Korea took the 2021 College Scholastic Ability Test (2021), a nationwide exam that determines what university students can go to. Following the exam, many students are commenting on what they found difficult, how they prepared for it, and more.
In the midst of a discussion concerning the exam, a Taeyeon fan surprised the internet as he recalls the story of how he was able to answer a mathematics question right, all because he thought of Taeyeon during the exam!
On Dec. 3, the fan shared his story on numerous online community forums. The fan shared a photo of an even-numbered answer sheet from the exam's math section. In the post, he revealed that Taeyeon "saved his life" during the exam.
The fan, who spent a lot of time trying to solve the 29th question, realized that he did not have enough time to solve the last question, question number 30. As he started panicking, one number suddenly came into his head - number 39. Without thinking further, he put 39 as the answer to the last question.
You might be wondering, why 39? It is because Taeyeon was born on March 9, 1989. March is the third month of the year. 3/9. 39!
The question is worth four points, making it one of the questions with the heaviest weight on his overall grade. Just getting that one question wrong could severely lower his grade. To the fan's surprise, 39 was the right answer to the question! And he got it right by just thinking about Taeyeon's birthday!
In his post, the fan left a message for the idol, saying, "I love you, Kim Taengoo!" Taengoo is a nickname fans have been calling Taeyeon for years after Taeyeon herself said she loved the nickname. Looks like he's been a fan of the idol for awhile!
Many people who came across the post expressed shock over how a love for an idol helped the fan pass his exams. Some have jokingly commented that he definitely owes Taeyeon now and that he should be forever thankful for the idol.
Earlier this year, Taeyeon released a reissue of her album "Purpose" with the single "Dear Me." Following the release of the reissued album, Taeyeon embarked on "The Unseen Concert" tour in January. She was slated to have a Japan Tour this year in eight cities, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
She released the digital single "Happy" on May 4. She was slated to release it on March 9 for her birthday, but it was postponed due to her father's passing that same day and her grandmother's death a month after.
On Nov. 18, Taeyeon released her second Japanese extended play "#GirlsSpkOut." Taeyeon is slated to make a comeback in South Korea with her fourth extended play, "What Do I Do," scheduled to be released on Dec. 15.
