EXO's Xiumin enlisted in the military in May 2019, becoming the first band member to start his mandatory military duty. He took his final leave last November of this year and was directly discharged without going back to the army base. This is in accordance with the COVID-19 prevention measures.

On Dec. 7, SM Entertainment announced that EXO's Xiumin will have a special livestream on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. KST as his way to celebrate his military discharge. A photo was uploaded via EXO's official social media accounts, and it reveals that the live broadcast will be called "XIUMIN's Let It XIUnow" and will air via the boy group's V LIVE channel.

During the broadcast, Xiumin will not only talk to the fans but will also play a few mini-games. The male artist will also perform his solo track "You," which was released back on May 9, 2019, just two days after his military enlistment, and as his gift to EXO-Ls. "You" also serves as his debut solo single and is also part of SM Station.

Xiumin is the oldest member in EXO and now the first member to carry out his military duty. D.O. enlisted last July 2019 and will be the next one to be discharged in January next year. Suho then enlisted in May of this year, while Chen was in October.

While EXO's Xiumin was still in the military, he starred in an army musical titled "Return: The Promise of That Day," alongsode SHINee's Onew and former WANNA ONE member Yoon Jisung. The play took place at Olympic Park's Woori Art Hall in Seoul from Oct. 22 to Dec. 1.

Prior to his military enlistment, Xiumin, along with his fellow EXO members Baekhyun and Chen, held the final leg of MAGICAL CIRCUS - 2019 Special Edition Tour, which is their very first tour as EXO's first sub-unit called EXO-CBX (Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin). The concert was conducted in April 2019 in Japan. But before the special edition concerts, the sub-unit held "Magical Circus" in May and June, having eight shows in four cities in Japan, namely Osaka, Fukuoka, Yokohama, and Nagoya.

Apart from that, EXO's Xiumin also had his solo fan-meeting concert called "Xiuweet Time" at Jamsil Arena last May 4, 2019.

Meanwhile, his last release with his fellow EXO members before starting his military duties is the album "Love Shot," which is the repackaged edition of the group's fifth studio album "Don't Mess Up My Tempo" that was launched on Dec. 13, 2018. It features the lead single that shares the same name with the album.
