Big Hit's upcoming joint concert "2021 New Year's Eve Live" presented by Weverse will feature not only the artists under the label and its affiliates but also some special guests who will give a great performance as well.
On Dec. 3, a new poster of Big Hit labels' joint concert was shared via the official Twitter account of Weverse, a fan community platform created by Big Hit Entertainment. In the poster, it can be seen that there are three human figures on the left and right sides between the idols and the middle of the singers. This has left the fans wondering what it means.
On Dec. 8, Weverse revealed through its official online store that there would be three special guests for the upcoming "2021 New Year's Eve Live" concert. On the site, the final lineup of performing artists for the event can be seen, and it includes Lee Hyun, BUMZU, NU'EST, BTS, GFRIEND, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and ENHYPEN.
Besides these artists, three more performers will attend the concert - none other than South Korean singer-songwriter Shin Hae Chul, American singer-songwriter Lauv, and American entertainer and DJ Steve Aoki. The three celebrities are also expected to perform on stage, showcasing their distinct talents. Also, Weverse has announced that the pre-order tickets are now available until the show date, specifically until 11 p.m. KST. The tickets can only be purchased through Weverse Shop. Also, the tickets are only for the online live streaming of the New Year's Eve concert as Big Hit has recently canceled the offline event as the social distancing level in South Korea has increased because of the rapid spread of COVID-19.
"2021 New Year's Eve Live" presented by Weverse is the first-ever joint concert to be conducted by Big Hit Entertainment following its acquisition of Source Music last July 2019 and Pledis Entertainment in May of this year. A part of the event will be aired on JTBC for a total of 45 minutes, which will show the New Year's countdown and some stages by the K-Pop artists or the special guests.
While the offline event was canceled, the NYE concert will still take place at KINTEX Exhibition Center 1 in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea on Dec. 31 from 9:30 p.m. KST. While most of the K-Pop groups and soloists under Big Hit and its affiliates will attend the concert, SEVENTEEN will not be present as Pledis has already an scheduled activity for the boy group on that day and it cannot be adjusted.
Having the theme "We've Connected," the "2021 New Year's Eve Live" will serve as a tribute to late iconic singer Shin Hae Chul. It was revealed that there will be a collaborative performance between Shin and Big Hit artists, which will be done through holograms made with artificial intelligence (AI) technology. In particular, the idols will perform late Shin Hae Chul's two hit songs titled "What Do You Really Want" and "To You."
