Here are the K-pop artists and songs that prevailed this 2020!
Recently, TIDAL, a high-fi and high def global music platform, released their own list of "Best of K-pop" for this year, and among numerous songs and Korean artists that promoted this year, only 100 were listed.
The music streaming service is run by JAY-Z and Beyonce, and it is one of the music source sites used by several U.S. users, which also offers premium service that has a great influence on Billboard's chart rankings.
On Tuesday, TIDAL then revealed the list 'BEST OF K-POP' playlist on their site, and, BTS's "Dynamite," topped the list.
This is followed by EXO's Baekhyun's "Candy" at No. 2, and TWICE's "I Can't Stop Me" at No. 3.
BTS, Baekhyun and TWICE Reign on TIDAL's BEST OF K-POP" 2020
In particular, the world-renowned K-pop group BTS released their track, "Dynamite," on August 21. Aside from the playlist, the English song also dominated various domestic and international charts, including Billboard's "Hot 100," where it reigned as No. 1 for two consecutive times, writing a new history as the first Korean artist to achieve the record.
Meanwhile, Baekhyun released his second mini-album on May 25, "Delight," introducing his lead single "Candy." The track hit numerous No. 1s on Korean chart, MelOn, and the male idol became the first Korean solo artist to sell 1 million album copies since 2001.
As for TWICE, the "No. 1 Girl Group of Asia," unveiled their second full album, "Eyes Wide Open," along with their title track, "I Can't Stop Me" on October 26. Upon release, it immediately gained massive interest around the world, recording a No. 1 in the US Billboard's, "World Digital Song Sales."
Along the three top songs in the list, Refund Sister's "DON'T TOUCH ME" and "How You Like That" by BLACKPINK ranked No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
They are followed by Stray Kids's "God's Menu," NCT U's "Make a Wish (Birthday Song)," SUNMI's "pporappippam," SECRET NUMBER's "Got That Boom," and TREASURE's "사랑해 (I LOVE YOU)," which were listed for top 6 to top 10.
In the list, Refund Sisters, SECRET NUMBER, and TREASURE achieved a high ranking despite debuting only this year. This just proved how wide their rising popularity is reaching.
Furthermore, IU'S eight (prod.& feat. SUGA of BTS) secured her spot at No. 11, Yooa's "Bon voyage" followed at No. 12, "Sukhumvit Swimming" by ONF was also listed at 13th place, as well as ATEEZ's "Answer (14th place) and BTS's " Black Swan" (15th place) closed the Top 15 ranking.
